I was reading an Article on Clones and the future

once cloning success rate increase in the futre they talked about using DNA of elite Athletes/Noble Prize Winners/Artist etc..

what if we had an age of Tennis where the likes of

    Laver
    Federer
    Borg
    Nadal
    Agassi
    Sampras
    Ashe
    Tilden
    Macenroe
    Edberg
    Lendel

were all cloned at the same time so no age difference...they would all grow up being trained with the same technology (whatever raquets/strings are like in the future) all playing on the same surfaces same start and finish dates for their tennis career. (say 10 years)

what would that Era look like? a Dominant Champion..Constant changing of the guard?

    Surface specialist?

like the French being a constant battle between Rafa/Borg/Agassi while Sampras/Fed battle it out on the grass?

Would Rafa be Rafa with out Tio Tony?

Would Agassi be Agassi with out his crazy father?

Who's natural Talent would shine while other players Clones would be a shawdow of former real player because the coaching/family/lifestyle attributed more to their abilitys than actual talent?

it could be the CCTA Champion Clones Tennis Assosiation.

I bet Richard Branson would fund something like this! :)

    Imagine ticket sales?

Cloning wouldn't guarantee anything as far as replicating performance. Identical twins prove this. Jose Canseco was a great hitter in major league baseball. His identical twin Ozzie couldn't even make it in the minor leagues.

Oh I realize they wouldn't be identical.

Thats the debate...how would they turn out?

Is it more about inviroment that makes a champion? or Natural talent?

Michael Jordan once said...had he not ben cut from his high school basketball team...he would probably never worked as hard at his game to prove everyone wrong and win his spot back on the team. He said the feeling of not being good enough was the fire that burned inside him always and every challenge he faced was another log on that fire.

This whole thread is speculation on something that probably never will happen.

    None of this is true.

I think that much of what whats a great champion a great champion is environmental / situational. It is entirely possible that none of the clones would be any good at tennis.
