A few thoughts and would love to get folks' responses:

    1) Are there teams that let singles players wear their own choice of uniform? I've seen Stanford have 3 different looks.

    2) Is anyone out there wearing sleeveless? I saw Pepperdine all wear sleeveless at the NCAA semis but you don't see it too often.

    3) Are there teams wearing simple t-shirts? I've seen Georgia, USC and Stanford guys wear what look like simple t-shirts but they must be Nike Dri-Fit. Georgia in particular has these "Georgia Tennis" white t-shirts that look like plain cotton t-shirts. What's cool is that it is a relaxed, non-stuffy look.

Most teams have several different styles of shirt and uniform colors. Really it's just whatever the coach wants. Some schools have the captain chose the uniform for each match, but some teams allow for my individuality. Many players change shirts after a set so they end of with a different color. I have seen certain players wear sleeveless.

Nike gives UF a budget and the staff just orders a bunch of gear. It seems that the players themselves ultimately decide what they wear and what they want in a match. I would imagine they have their choice of blue, orange, white, or grey.

Our stuff happens to just be a Gator head and Nike swoosh on either chest. Nothing flashy.

As for sleeveless, Harvard had a few kids that wore sleeveless including Pearlman at #1. Pearlman sweats so bad that he had multiple towels, changes of shirts, and even an ice cooler that he would stick his head into on changeovers with a towel over his head.

I think I've seen Stanford guys wear sleeveless but I think it is just the Nike sleeveless shirt for general working out - i.e. it is not a tennis specific shirt. It's a great look and really functional in hot weather.

Stanford had some cool shoes that seemed like the specific "Cardinal" red shade. Didn't look like stuff you could just buy in the store.

If there was a team that would wear sleeveless - I would think it would be Florida playing at home near the end of the season. The gear alone for an individual team member has got to be valued at north of $1500-$2000. Think of all the t-shirts, warm ups, shoes, etc.

Illinois has worn sleeveless. Do the players have to match exactly in a given match? Can someone opt for sleeveless and someone opt for a regular crew?

yeah of course. There is no rule that they have to match. Just that some coaches prefer the team to look like a team.

The Gator men wear orange Nike dri-fast shirts for doubles and change to blue shirts for singles, always with white shorts. Occasionally I will see a player change between sets to a white shirt. The Gators often practice without shirts at all. Not sure if it's cooler, they are working on their tans, or just trying to impress the girls team.

    USC Uniforms

USC does seem to have some cool stuff. But I think Stanford's look a little cooler.

Yeah they have the same color sceme ... the name ''Stanford'' on the chest maybe more of an attention getter the ''USC"" but the Stanford ''tree'' logo is needs a change ,also that ''tree'' mascot is awful ...

USC and many other schools like Ohio State, Stanford, Georgia, UVa had those tennis shoes customized through NikeID. Anyone can customize their own Nike shoes through that service

    Nike Customized Shoes

Does anyone know if these are the Nike Zoom Breathe 2K 11 shoes? It looks like you can get them customized at the Nike site.

For shirts, we got a couple collared shirts and a bunch of different tee shirts for practice in our package from Nike. I think the only time we wore the collared shirts were for picture day. Everyone wore tee shirts for matches.

What's with the sleeveless look lately? Some Illinois players wore that this year but can't say I care for it much.

    Sleeveless

I actually think it is a cool look but I've never seen an entire team do it until Pepperdine at this year's NCAAs in the semifinal round.

I've seen some Stanford guys do it. NEver seen any USC guys do it though somehow I think that look fits them.

    Under Armour Schools

What kind of shoes are the Under Armour sponsored schools wearing? Utah, Auburn, South Carolina, Texas Tech. Under Armour makes stuff you can wear to play tennis but no tennis shoes.

Both Texas Tech guys in the NCAA doubles final were wearing Babolat shoes. Guess it's kind of whatever you want.

    Under Armour

My guess is that Under Armour doesn't care what shoes the tennis guys are wearing as long as they aren't their big competitors for school contracts: Nike and Adidas. Those three companies are the only ones who have school-wide or close to school-wide deals. So that would leave Asics, Babolat and ??? for shoe choices?

I've actually seen South Carolina players wearing Adidas and Nike so my guess is that they can wear whatever shoe they want.
