Someone (not Leyton Hewitt) has trademarked the phrase "Come on."

    http://au.sports.yahoo.com/tennis/news/article/-/7578563/come-on-lleyton-we-won-in-court/

Pretty ridiculous that someone can "own" a common phrase, but it happpens all the time. Michael Buffer owns "Let's get ready to rumble. Pat Riley owns "Three-peat." Darrell Waltrip owns "Boogity boogity boogity." Paris Hilton own's "That's hot."

So, the next time you hit a winner, if you calll out, "Come on," remember you're infringing on someone's trademark.

Freedom of speech doesn't mean speech is free.

"I'll do it in a minute" would get you millions in royalties.

If anyone really wonders why people would want to trademark a common phrase, accordng to Wikipedia, ring announcer Michael Buffer has earned a ton of money from his, "Let's get ready to rumble" catchphrase:

Lucky dip, is registered here to the national lottery. Used to be used in parties and fetes all across the country untill they bought out a game called it. Most people semed shocked you could register a phrase but seems most things are possible

I am about to patent the written word. I suggest you write as much as you can before this comes through.

For the sake of these boards, let's hope no one patents "*******", "*******", "arrogant", "buttpicker" or "goat".

You forgot "choke", "clown" and "if this is a 4.0 player then I'm a 5.5"

I've patented the typed word. Good luck with the written one, Francis Bacon.

Typed is a subset of written, I have had an expert testify to this. By the way you owe me $45 for the last post.

This is a subprime thread so your outrageously high fees will just ruin the whole subforum.
