LETS GO!!!. Djoker is in a good position here. Nadal hurt apparently.. Roger still crying after the AO, Murray with Mono and Djoker wins Dubai beating Ferrer. Use this as motivation going into the masters events and RG. Djoker is good at the RG. He needs to pick it up here. He can overtake Fed.

Djoko is a favourite of mine....but he seems to suffer from self esteem/belief issues....

He needs to step it up BIG time or Murray/Tsonga and co are going to eat him alive...

He has the talent but he needs to toughen up!

Come on Djoko get on peoples nerves, rile the crowd, I dont care just WIN!!!

I just wish for once he would use one of these tournaments as a stepping stone for motivation. I was hoping winning the YEC would carry over into the AO. Hopefully winning Dubai can carry over for him these next few months for his confidence. He needs some. He has the ability to be number 1. Considering how good he is on all the surfaces. He has the game for sure

when the going gets really tough, (based upon past match results) we know:

    nadal would continue to compete
federer could raise his game to another level
djokovic, on the other hand, may fold due to mental lapse/physical fitness problem.

I think he needs a couple of good wins against other members of the top 4 for his confidence cup to overflow but you're right about his game. He's got the lot.

doubtful. No one but Nadal is winning in paris, Djoker's going to really have to step it up if he wants to do any damage at wimbly, I don't see anyone beating fed or nadal there. That leaves the US open as his only legitimate chance, but I don't know if he can do it, we'll see. I'd say the aussie was his best chance but he had an asthma attack this year...

Not sure you can use it as motivation when the top three bow out as they did. But, a title is a title...

He's still young. I think that as he matures, so will his attitude and resilience.

It's a good win, but Dubai is Dubai. Roddick won it last year, beating tougher opponents, and look what he went on too after.

Was this really worth a new thread?

But not sure how much of a confidence boost hes gonna get when the top 3 players were not even in contention...

    Of course it was.

Why this one thread bothers you so much? I don't see you complain about hundreds of really silly and unnecessary threads about Federer.

I don't understand you guys at all. First he's too arrogant/cocky, now he has belief issues? Make up your mind already. :)

  16. He is only hungry for money. Yes he can overtake Fed,when fed retires.

  17. Playing well against Ferrer is one thing, playing well and beating Fed,Nadal,Murray and Tsonga is another ballgame.

Unless Djokovic has some paradigm shift in his game/attitude, he'll forever be an also-ran.

    Submitted as evidence:

    1. Federer may be close to done, but done he ain't. I think Federer's got another Major or two in his back pocket IF he doesn't lose interest ala Borg. Federer has to solve the Nads issue and find a way to win a few or this one matchup good demoralize Federer into retirement....
    2. Nads is not going anywhere. He and Djokovic are roughly the same age and Nads appears to be faster, better of the ground, willing to change his game for improvement, and hungry. From what I've seen so far, Djokovic isn't any of these things. He's more willing to retire than any top tenner I've seen ever.
    3. Murray is the unknown. He is good enough to beat Nads and seems to have solved the Nads riddle, winning the last two. Murray is hungry. He wants to win as bad as anyone on tour and he's doing whatever he can to improve.
In a dog fight in the 5th set, I'd bet money on any of the above 3 over Djokovic every time. Further, I think Djokovic did Andy Roddick a big favor at the Australian showing Roddick that he can win against the "new elite" when things get tough.

In summary, I think there is something very special and unique that separates a multi-Major winner from the rest of the ATP tour. That something is a quality that Djokovic does not possess or at least does not demonstrate. He reminds me somewhat of Kafelnikov, without Kafelnikov's work ethic.

When the going gets tough.......Djokovic retires.......

yes...it's time for you to cheer and motivate someone with 1 slam and is no threat to your idol's record. While you're at it, don't forget to downplay those who are about to break it.

I seriously doubt you are such a big Djokovic fan!

Even if Joker plays very well at RG, he doesn't have the stamina to overtake Federer in a clay match with long rallies. If that match were to happen, I would put my money on Federer to win it, in 3, possibly 4, sets. Add to that a 6-2 H2H record between the two (including 2 clay matches, both of which Federer won), and you've got the winner.

LOL at these 2 posts.Maybe GS is slowly seeing Rafael as a threat to Pete's slam record as well :) ? I mean 6 slams at 22 is a pretty fast pace(to say the least)and what if he gets even a career slam on the way? Oh my :).

Still, nice to see a cheering thread for someone other than Nadal and Fed.IMO Djokovic returning to the form he had in first part of 2008 would be good for the game, the more competition at the top the better as far as I'm concerned.Djokovic proved that he has to game to challenge both Fed and Nadal so here's hoping that Dubai title gives him a boost in confidence so he can make things more interesting at the top,he has the game to do so IMO.

Good post. I agree with the work ethic/fight he shows, it is not enough to be a true champion like a Nadal or Fed.

It is not always everything about your precious Federer. This is nice cheering thread for Novak and please stop polluting it with your nonsense rants.

ROTFL says the biggest troll who unwelcomingly pollutes all threads with his typical garbage and whining on Federer, Roddick, Graf, Williams sisters, or any other player he doesnt like. Too funny.

I think everyone here agrees that the OP isn't really rooting for Djokovic...I mean how blind do you have to be not to see that :-?

That's probably true but regardless of the true motive or intention behind this thread it's still nice to see a cheering thread about a player other than the top 2,atleast for me it is.

I remember when everyone took Djokovic seriously (well, on the court atleast) around the end of 2007 until the middle of 2008...

He's still a great player, and he's proven he can win a major unlike Murray.

Give him some credit people, he's a good player and plays interesting tennis!
