I am surprised that no one has ever brought this up. This blew my mind.

At one point in the career, Federer, Nadal, Sampras, and Borg were all 10-2 in Grand Slam singles finals.

After that, Federer went 7-5, Nadal went 1-3, Sampras went 4-2, and Borg went 1-3.

    Unbelievable.

Another commonality is that they all have wielded a tennis racquet.

No one posted it because no one cares.

A more interesting commonality is that they are all tied for the most consecutive years of winning 1 slam per year (8 years), which Nadal has the chance to break next year if he wins at least 1 slam.

    Have a 1-star rating and a report.

Or that since going 10-2 in Grand Slam finals, both Borg and Nadal have gone 1-3 in Grand Slam finals. Of course, Borg, never won another slam after his 11th. It would not surprise me if that the same happens to Nadal.

Really? Holding a 52-1 record at Roland Garros, far greater than Borg's, with no one to challenge him there at all, and it wouldn't be a surprise to you if :D Rafa :D did not win it next year?

I am surprised that everyone is downplaying the amazment of this commonality. I would love for others to even come up with another commonality between 4 other great players. Go!

That would be great accomplishment for Nadal, really. What saddens me a little (or gives me the giggles) though, apparently this is what you will be repeating in 5 different accounts over and over and over and over (and over and over and over) again for a considerable future.

The only thing I'm repeating is that this is my only account on this forum. You're obviously just trying to discredit my originality  every time I make a post about :D Rafa :D.

The most striking commonality is that they all bow down to Our Rafa (apart from Our Rafa himself).

Why is this such a fail comment. When Federer won his 3rd of 4 grand slams played (2010 Australian Open), who would have predicted that he would go 2.5 years before winning his next one.

When McEnroe won the 1984 U.S. Open, who would have predicted that it would be his last.

When Wilander on the 1988 U.S. Open (his third major of 1988), who would have predicted it would be his last.

What's amazing is Federer's resiliency to keep winning GS after so many crushing final defeats to Nadal.

Federer does not use toilet paper - he does it smoothly and elegantly with no cleanup required.

Nadal on the other hand ..........

So your argument is that Nadal has no competition at RG, and is thus somehow better than Borg?

    Fail.

Reminds me of another thread from a while back where somebody came up with Nadal-Fed H2H up to that point being symmetrical (with a probability of around 1 in 1000 for that to happen). I tried to search for it but couldn't find it.

    EDIT: I found it: Symmetrical Nadal-Federer H2H.

All this stuff is a coincidence or what? Scary.

I was worried for just the slightest second because you didn't mention Nadal in the first sentence of your reply, but then I realized: This is 6-1 6-3 6-0. I need not worry. You're not like Nadal in a grass-court slam. You won't ever fall short in the regard, and so you made me proud in your second sentence.

Not so. Sampras played a fair bit of his career as a one-ball guy. He got the second from the ball-kid like the ladies do.

Edit: beaten to this detail by The-Champ above.

Now I know why this thread has been started. Another "let's abuse Nadal" show. Lucky you, McEnroe left the circus long ago and became untouchable.

Actually not true, Sampras didn't keep the ball in his pocket, if he missed a first serve, he'd get another one from the ballboy.

This is why I doubt that Nole will reach at least 11 slams. He is not following that trajectory. He has never been 10-2 in slam finals. He is 8-8 atm! More like a Connors, Agassi and Lendl. Might be a bit better with a total of 10 slams at the end of his career perhaps.
