    Good one on ya, Mario.

My daughter got a law degree, and it was tough. With year-long travel due to tournaments, it is a wonder that Mario found the time to study, or take classes. Do we have a future ATP president/executive director in training?

Well he was home for 6 months and able to do some of the course work during that time. Congrats to Mario, he seems to be a very smart young man, and I just hope he can stay healthy for the rest of the year. It would be nice to see him in the top ten again.

I wonder who else currently on the ATP has a degree? I know Tipsarevic graduated... Safin also attended university but not sure if he graduated.

Wow, Law is pretty hard but he'll have a good career outside the game.

tennis players in reality when compared to normal people have a lot of free time, when not playing they train for usually 2 hours a day and do fitness for 1 hour, so thats really only three hours on the job, other than that they go out to eat and hang out a lot, so they do have time and even though their season is long they have more vacation time than we do, even at tournaments there is a lot of down time which is usually used to go out to eat and get massages and stuff, so its really not that inconceivable, just not necessary thats why its not more common

technically i spend more time at work on top of being a full time student

I believe Jankovic is another doing a law degree Venus Williams got her degree, tennis is not the beginning and end, with a career so short you have to have something else to fall back on and not just your money, it shows it can be done if you put your mind to it

    Good for him

This is phenomenal news and for such a highly skilled tennis player. I always found him to be very well spoken, but based on his family and their academic background, he is also intelligent.

It's also good to see professional athletes finding other avenues outside of their sport.

    Good for him. :)

....and to do a dissertation not only in front of professors and to be quizzed by them, but also to speak to a 300 person audience.

I also noticed that deVilliers helped him...which shed some light on the kind of person deVilliers is.

Congrats to Mario for persevering on thie degree since 2002, and also to his supportive family.

    GOOD STUFF!

Indeed, congratulations to Mario! I'm also studying law (together with a business degree) and it's such an engaging discipline.

Which goes to show that neither the written or spoken word is necessarily to be taken as the truth.

Except for my posts, of course. LOL
