Congratulations to Novak on a well-deserved year end win! Such a consistent and physical player. He can be proud of 2012 even though there were some misses - solid year overall.

Congrats also to Roger. Unlike the other thread, I think all fair minded people can agree a 31 yr old had a tremendous year and was only just edged at the end for no.1. Tip of the hat to Murray as well for finally breaking through.

Yep congrats to both players. Really great from Nole to be able to get the no 1 back to back, in the end , I think he is the best player of the year by some margin as the points will attest to.

Great stuff from Roger, truly a legend, who even past his prime is giving these younger players fits!

Unlike what batz claims about all you Murray fans, I think you prove your narrow mindedness.

batz is wrong. Mainad is possible the most narrow-minded poster on these boards.

Wrong again. But keep trying. Those that remember me, know I'm just as big of a fan of Djokovic as I am Murray.

Novak starts as the clear favorite for 2013. Should be a very interesting year ahead. I think if Nadal can come back to full form by the clay season, we'll have a full house at the top.

Pretty closely contested match in long patches.. Some amazing rallys and, despite the stats showing a fair amount of unforced errors from both, it was a high quality match for the most part.

Djokovic showing again how he's not out till the last point.

His flexibility, reach and court coverage are amazing. Personally, I prefer a more aggressive style where a player moves forward and takes the initiative to end points with winners, but hey, there is no doubting Novak's terrific baseline game.

Yup good match, great stuff by Novak.

I also cannot see how anyone can be disappointed with Roger's seasons. It has been fantastic, so much more than I ever expected! Hopefully he can have another one or two seasons like this.

You know what, overall this has been the best year in tennis over the last few years or so.

Happy for both my favorite players.....Federer being number 1 of course.

It would have been a bigger slugger blockbuster match had it went to 3. Federer was the better player in the start of both sets....while Novak got the better in the end of the sets.

The last 3 WTF finals whic includes this one.....have been epic.

Djokovic is the deserving no 1 of 2012, full credit to him.

More than happy with Federer's season, what more can you ask from a 31-year old?

Monfed: Fed didn't just lose to Novak, he lost to Delpo as well. If anything, Djoko deserved it more, so justice is served.

Fed lost a match in the RR hence showing that he is human. Since only humans should be eligible for the title , it is unfair that sons of gods are allowed to compete :)

Novak was clutch. He deserved the victory today. In terms of tennis beauty and the kind of shots, Fed won by a mile.

I am so happy Fed ended the year playing such a high class match.

I am happy that he lost to Novak who played so well and not to some other player.

Congrats to all Novak fans. His clutchness just reminded us of 2004-06 Fed and his tiebreaks.

Definitely most Fed fans will support Novak once Fed says goodbye.

Fed or Novak for AO 2013.

Fed fan here but I must say it was a deserved win for Novak and a good speech at the end. It is hard to feel too bad for Roger. He has one this thing 6 times.

I dont know why people say djokovic isnt aggressive.

he was a monster today with some of those fhs and bhs going right into federer's wheelhouse.

he was pushing fed side to side waiting for the short ball from the backhand and happily collecting errant over aggressive forehands from roger.
