With a doubles rubber win today, Spain is up 3-0 in the Davis Cup Final and clinches the title. Congrats to the Spaniards on a successful defense.

4 different players* on the span of 2 days got the win. That's a team.

*What a great decision it turned out to be by the Spanish captain to keep Ferrer..

Rafa has to stop biting the trophy b/c it ruined the picture. It's best if he just give a smile like everyone else. And it's not b/c of a bad habit, he's doing it intentionally as if he think it's cool, but it's not. I think it's childlish.

You think kissing it is better? That makes no sense at all, and kissing should be reserved for people.

Besides biting silver was/is done for practical reasons.

Silver and gold are both weaker metals. If the coin is legit, you can feel a difference between it and a harder, fake coin ot object.

PS. Can I interest you in buying this "gold" coin? You will see that it weighs more than most coins. He he.

I would just love to see the look on Rafa's face when he bites a trophy and thinks: "those cheap *******s!" :D:D:D

Almost all champions kiss their trophy, a sign of how much it mean to them. But biting? How many player take a bite out of a trophy?

So ever since Nadal took a bite out of the trophy he thought it could of made out of GOLD so he tested to see if it's 14, 24 karat?

TMF couldn't resist turning even a thread that's not really about rafa into an opportunity to bash Rafa. Seriously, complaining that he ruined the picture by biting the trophy? Was that really important enough to you to post about it in a congratulatory thread? As if there weren't countless more pictures taken of the ceremony and celebration anyways. Ludicrous.

Anyhow, congrats to Spain, especially to Ferrer for the huge comeback and to Verdasco and Lopez for taking down Steps/Berdych who have an amazing record playing doubles together.

That would be boring. God forbid he tries to do something original.

Why? Its his trademark and it means he's hungry for more tropheys. Plus Nadal is unique, that's why we all like him because he is different to every player on tour.

Biting his trophy is his own business, don't complain since you guys have not won davis cup either. It his dicision to do what he wants. Heck if i had a trophy I would squeeze it with my hands to see if i can corrupt it's structure. SInce it is his team trophy he can take a bite out of his portion!

They were basically given the Davis cup getting to play all their matches at home on clay.

    Heh! Good one. :)

No question about that. To be fair, last year they had to play three of four ties away to get it.
