I think the key factor was losing Gabriela Niculescu, their #1 and stand-out doubles player. She's 30-9 for the season, playing with Amanda Fink at #1. Her not playing meant they had to re-jig their doubles line-up and it didn't work. Last time against Washington they won the doubles point and won the tie 4-3. This time they missed the doubles and lost overall.

Real pity for that side of the bracket that they've had all the tough matches. Been some real white washes on the other side.

You have it all Wrong. USC lost cause their star player Gabriella Niculescu got Suspended by NCAA and did NOT play. I am still trying to find out why she was suspended ??? very odd....

Umm, isn't that EXACTLY what I said ?

My first guess would be it's an academic suspension.
