How long did Jimbo stick with the Prince Mono shaft ? Seems like it was just a gimmick for the day ? Anyone know the behind the scenes details please let me know. Much Gratitude !!

There were a few pics floating around of his recent (and incredibly brief) coaching stint with Sharapova and it certainly looked like he was still using the Mono.

Would be strange if they had made the Mono for Chang, given he'd had so much success with an extended length oversize and the Mono is standard length, 97sq head.

Which was released first, the Precision Mono or Titanium Chang. Chang sure had a sweet flex

in his facebook page, Connors posted pic of himself using another racquet. As for the Mono, if Connors could win pro tennis matches with the t-2000, he could play with anything.

i think mono came out in 94 or 95. chang was still using a prince graphite (or extended version of one). i think the chang graphites came out in 96, not sure...

I think you're probably right about that. I had a look at some of my old Tennis Magazines and ads for the Mono appear to start in 95.

The first time I saw it here in Australia was in late 95' and I started using it in 97' (still play with it as my main racquet) .

If I am not mistaken Chang used either the Mono (or the other mono-Stick with the bigger head size) for one match. I think I even saw somd of it on TV. I thought it was even at Roland Garros, but there I can easily be mistaken.
I bought my monos on a sale, and that was what I remembered of the Monos when buying them. One of the best buys I ever made :)

I just got blown off the court by a retriever who used a Prince Mono. He had three in his bag, and seemed pleased when I commented on them. He got terrific underspin and control from anywhere on the court with it.

I saw the ESPN show on Jimmy Connors and he is STILL using that mono shaft Prince! He had hip surgery and he was taking it slow while rehabbing and i saw him hitting up against the wall with that strange looking frame.

When a pro plays a vintage model for fun, ie when not endorsing a recent model, it really shows respect for a great racket. Not many players hit and like rackets like Jimmy and his t2000 or mono models. I love classic rackets and have some mono's but they are never my choice when grabbing a few classics for some fun hits. Wonder if Jimbo still has any t2000s in his racket stash ? I would be pleased to hand him a few ;)

As a sports writer once noted his usage of the T2000 back in Jimmy's heyday- "He was Arthur wielding Excalibur."
