The delays with the Connors bio could mean it's not juicy enough. Jimbo has a lot of colorful background to choose from but by the way he spoke in cliches on Tennis Channel coverage, you hope he doen't make the book ultra boring like some of his commentating was.

adil I loved the Agassi book and liked very much Pete's. The Marcelo Rios and Nadal books are very good too.

Is Connors going to talk about his women?

With his hate and hot relationship with Mc Enroe?

I think it was freud who said that the Connors vs Mac relationship was like two teasing lovers that cannot find the true love that his hidden in their souls, thus reacting as enemies...

Johnny is the upper middle class histerical New Yorker and Connors was raised like Tony Perkins in famous Hitchcock film
Both are psiquiatric stuff...but that is one of the many reasons they were so exciting to watch and one of the reasons why some of us miss them soooo much

i know we´re in agreement that tennis misses that kind of personality
i can see McEnroe frequenting psychiatrists, whilst Connors probably would insist he doesn´t need one

I just happened to notice that Jimmy seems to wear a wedding ring on his right ring finger, not on the traditional left ring finger. Not sure why. Maybe I'm seeing wrong or something.

Canadian top model of the 70´s.I guess that I put her name right but right or not, Connors was dating a canadian top model after he and Evert split and before he met Patty.

Jimmy is my favourite player of all-time and I'm going to be most interested in the Riordan days, his friendship with Nastase, the rivalry with Borg when they were both vying for the no.1 spot and the chicks (if he mentions them in any great detail).

somebody mentioned Budge and Connors were the most possible similar type of players, with their hard, deep, high risky side spin shots, and I certainly agree

I'm wondering how the significant amount of time that has lapsed since his playing days will affect the story. Hope his memory is better than mine. Btw, my old best friend and I are hoping there's a chapter on his early high school days and he mentions beating up on the Granite City High School boys tennis team so we can seek royalties. Ha

I just hope it's dare I say it, an open honest account, and Jimmy doesn't hold back; but I'm worried the lawyers may have withheld lots of the good stuff, still really looking forward to reading it anyway:)

I read that one. It's OK, but not great. I think it should have been called "My favorite A$$hole"

Those who read it, should remember that that's what Arthur Ashe Jr. was quoted in the book as calling Connors one time.

I have over 100 tennis bios. I got tired of the subject and quit buying/reading more titles. However, I think this one might be worth trying.

Jimmy Connors and Chris Evert were one of the most popular couples in sports in the 1970s. The two tennis stars were at the top of the food chain in their sport, which in many ways made them the ideal power couple. Connors and Evert were engaged to be married in 1974, but they split just weeks before their scheduled wedding date. The reason why may surprise you.

In his new memoir, “The Outsider,” Connors implied that he and Evert called off their wedding because of a complication that arose in their relationship when Evert became pregnant.

“An issue had arisen as a result of youthful passion, and a decision had to be made as a couple,” Connors wrote in the book, via the NY Post. “Chrissie called to say she was coming out to LA to take care of the ‘issue.’ I was perfectly happy to let nature take its course and accept responsibility for what was to come.”

Connors was 22 at the time and Evert was 19. Having come from a strict Catholic home, Evert reportedly felt that the timing of the pregnancy was bad and that she had no other choice. Connors said she asked him to handle the “details” and had already made up her mind.

“Well, thanks for letting me know,” he said he told her. “Since I don’t have any say in the matter, then I guess I am just here to help.”

Connors said he later told Evert that it would be best if they “take a step back” in their relationship, which did not sit well with her and ultimately led to the split. He said they fought hard to work out their issues but that it became difficult because of their rising status as sports stars.

“Can two No. 1’s exist in the same family?” he wrote.

It seems to be working out fine for Jay-Z and Beyonce.

And now it comes out in two weeks and he just let some snipets out. INCLUDING: really strong hints that Chris Evert was pregnant before teh wedding.

I don't want to be accused of anything here - go to the CNNSI/tennis site...
