I know they have the same court surface and balls just like in US Open, but so many players complain about very fast surface.. and bad balls (Safin). Does the humidity or lack of it play such a big factor in how fast the balls are flying? I watched Fed match and I could tell, that one good shot is pretty much enough to win the point.. that's how fast the courts are.. I don't remember courts being so fast at the Open. And why the hell Safin complain about balls again?

They use the Wilson U.S. Open balls. As for the balls being bad, i just got a case of the same balls and there is somethingwrong with them. So they might just be bad. I think a major thing is the wind, either its really windy in Athens, or a bad placement/ design of the courts.

Can't vouch for this, but most south european countries get alot of wind during August. I knew why but I forgot exactly where these come from.

Yeah there is loads of wind down in Athens, good for our sailors :D

The court does seem very fast though and definetly the wind is speeding it up and doing something wierd to the balls.
