Cracked Fischer?

I broke strings just last week against a 4.5 power hitter at my club and I noticed a crack on my MSpeed. I pound the ball pretty hard, especially on the serve, but I thought it odd that the stick cracked on me. I've put many hours on the frame this fall, but I've never really had any problems with a racquet cracking or breaking. It was strung with Klip Legend 17 @ 54, so no problems there. The crack itself is a hairline crack splitting from the grommet where the throat connects to the head. It's nothing really major, and the stick still plays great. I just wanted to post here as a warning and to get a little feedback. Fischers have always been made well in my opinion, I had a Pro #1 that I hit with years ago with no problem. I'd just like to figure out what put the stress on the frame to cause the crack.

You should send take this frame back to the store that you purchased it from. If they're good, they should replace it for you out of stock. Otherwise you'd have to wait for 3 weeks to get it back from Fischer USA. Do not keep the racket because that samll crack has weakened frame's integraty, it might get worse at any time. The location of the crack is at the high sress point and I have broken many rackets in that spot before. I have never seen that happen to this model before, so you have nothing to worry about. BTW, I assume you have the SL version of this frame and noth the UL. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yep, not the Ultralight. It's the standard weight. I can't take the racquet back to a store, I bought it from a fellow TW poster. I love the stick and am thinking about ordering an extra 5 or so. I was curious to see if anyone else had any problems with their MSpeeds cracking. Since I'm ordering some, I may or may not even worry about sending the racquet to Fischer. Plus, I bought the racquet at an incredibly great price, so no worries.

Anything can be manufactured with a defect, an area of a little more resin and a little less graphite here or there, for example. I wouldn't devote too much energy to figuring out how/why it cracked.

Rafter, how old is the racket. I can help you out with the return, but you would have to pay for shipping. Let me know if you're interested. The racket has to be less than 1 year old.

alu16L, Do you have an e-mail contact for Fischer? I am interested in their frames (MSpeed 98/105) and have some questions. Not a lot of response from their "info" e-mail address. You can e-mail me at fortytolove@yahoo.com. You can probably answer my questions. Thanks
