You can choose any player from any era to create the most difficult Wimbledon draw you can possibly imagine.

If choosing a player from a previous era, surfaces and equipment used will be from that particular era. For example, 1980 Borg would be played with wooden rackets, faster grass etc.

    Here's mine -

    1st round - Ivanisevic
    2nd round - Nadal
    3rd round - Borg
    4th round - McEnroe

    Quarter Final - Laver
    Semi Final - Federer
    Final - Sampras

It would be much more cruel to have Federer in the 1st round and Sampras in the 2nd round.

Hmmm. Tough choice. But shouldn't this be in the Former Pro Section?

    I'd say:
    1st round - Nadal
    2nd round - Connors
    3rd Round - Becker
    4th Round - Borg

    Quarters - McEnroe
    Semis - Federer
    Final - Sampras

    Fast Grass:

    1st round - Pancho Gonzalez
    2nd round - Becker
    3rd round - Edberg
    4th round - McEnroe

    Quarter Final - Connors
    Semi Final - Federer
    Final - Sampras

Pancho will intimidate and scover over you.Becker will finsh what left of you....most likely won't react to his power game. Still surviving....then Edberg will speedily snipe you. If not McEnroe will verbally abuse, and throw you of guard with his tantrums plus his remarkable play.

Federer never lost a set in the Semifinals since this year. Sampras likes torcher his opponents in the finals.

    Slow Grass:

    1st round - Tsonga
    2nd round - Murray
    3rd round - Roddick
    4th round - Hewitt

    Quarter Final - Lendl
    Semi Final - Nadal
    Final - Federer

Lendl will love the slower grass. Nadal will physically beat you up. Tough love against Hewitt.

It would be worse to make them play Nadal followed by Borg since no one would be able to walk let alone run after enduring those wars back to back...

True, but Nadal plays his best Tennis later on and normally looks very vulnerable in the early rounds. So maybe have Nadal and Borg in the SF and F when the player is already very tired.

Nadal should probably be in the semifinal/final, since that's when he plays best.

    1. Ivanisevic
    2. Sampras
    3. McEnroe
    4. Federer
    Q. Becker
    S. Borg
    F. Nadal

I put Sampras ahead of Federer because Sampras usually play his best in the finals, while Federer struggled in most of his finals.

It's not so difficult to pass Rafa on the 2nd round. Just ask Rosol how he did it.

Toughest would be going out in the first round.
So I would put Federer up for the opening Monday against the unfortunate lamb to the slaughter.

Going back a little bit, R Tanner would not be a name you would want to see against yours on the lush grass on day 1.

Maybe not literally the most difficult players to play against. But I bet that you'd be pretty scared if your first 3 rounds were against those big servers who can beat anyone on a good day. Especially Sampras with his serve and volley on fast grass, try getting past that.
And if you somehow survive that (which you won't) you'd have to play the modern top 4 on today's slow grass. Well, good luck.

I want to have a go at this!

    1R: Edberg
    2R: Becker
    3R: Ivanisevic
4R: McEnroe (has to be 1984 since he started with graphite at that time and was absolutely scary)
    QF: Borg
    SF: Sampras
    F: Federer

Fast grass all the way and a Mac the Impaler right in the middle of it, up to Federer on slow grass. Have fun!

Considering that this draw is supposed to be tough for everyone, *including Sampras*, I'm surprised no-one thought of adding the Krajicek-bomb in the first round, just so Pete doesn't win a single set in this edition should he get this draw... ;)
