I just go through the futures and challnger draws each week. I know the names of the top of my head just from following college tennis all year long. I don't know any place that actually keeps track other than this thread.

Yeah way too early to tell who will be playing where in the lineup without fall results even though redlicki is having a nice summer. It will be interesting to see how all the incoming top american freshman (styslinger, redlicki, vinsant, Krueger, if he doesn't turn pro, hiltzik) do at kalamazoo this year where they will presumably face off against each other.

all the young guns losing in 1st round in LA... a bit disappointing but these were all tough matches against top 100 opponents, so it was actually a pretty good effort by Johnson and Klahn.

S Johnson losing in straights to Sijsling (ATP #102).
B Klahn losing in 3 sets to P Lorenzi (ATP #91).
N Meister losing to X Malisse (ATP #72) in 2 small sets.

Deverman appears to just have lost 1 and 3 in the first round of a 15k future in Britain. Any background on this, seems unusual.

I looked around, appears he got injured in the fall and is coming back, correct spelling is Devvarman so my sincere apologies for misspelling i do know how upset people can get about that on message boards.

I did not know that Somdev was playing a Futures, so I did not know whether this was a misspelling or not. He has not played a Futures event in a LONG time, but of course, players do this when they are coming back from a surgery, and he was in London for the Olympics anyway (lost in the first round, which was his first competitive match in about 6-7 months.

BTW, his last name is pronounced dev-VAR-man, which was another reason that "Deverman" did not ring a bell to me. People outside of UVa probably have not heard it pronounced.

USC's Emilio Gomez into the finals of an Ecuador Future where he'll meet recent UNC grad Jose Hernandez. Gomez ripped recent Pepperdine grad Alex Llompart 6-3 6-1 in the semis. Gomez's teammate Roberto Quiroz made it to the quarters before losing to the #1 seed 6-2 in the 3rd.

Emilio Gomez knocked off Jose Hernandez 6-3 4-6 6-2 to win an Ecuador Future - Ecuador draw

Blaz Rola came up short in a Croatia Future final falling to German Peter Heller 6-4 6-0. I believe Rola is going to continue playing futures throughout the fall and was planning on returning to Ohio State in January.

    Ecuador F2 Future

Hernandez, Gomez, and Quiroz all into the semis at an Ecuador Future. Hernanez and Quiroz will face each other while Gomez meets #459 Gallardo-Valles from Mexico. Hernandez beat former Tulsa #1 Marcelo Arevalo in the Quarters 7-6 6-1, Quiroz thumped Pepperdine's #2 Finn Tearney 6-2 6-3 in the Quarters. Probably a decent chance of both Gomez and Quiroz playing in the top 3 for USC this year.

    Croatia F8 Future

Blaz Rola has dropped 3 games in 2 matches thus far in cruising to the Quarters of a Croatia future. His ranking is up to 480 and will probably move up into the high 400s in the next few weeks. Since May he has 2 Futures Titles and 2 Runner-ups. If he keeps up this pace and pushes his ranking up into the 300s I'd be surprised to see him back in Columbus in January.

That's where his ranking was prior to college. I'm not sure why he went to college tennis if he leaves after 2 years.

I can't think of too many players that had that high of an ATP Ranking and went to school to begin with. Most guys are usually in the 500-1500 range. If you're top 400 before you're 18 college probably won't help much.

Did you guys hear what J McEnroe said when they were discussing DN's win?

They were discussing his win and JMac chimes in:
"Novikov had no business playing juniors and Kalamazoo, when your 19 and a sophomore playing #3 at UCLA you just shouldn't be playing juniors."

Seriously folks can't make this stuff up.

Translation: This little sh** took this spot away from one of my brother's PD kids, the USTA could have looked so good if it wasn't for this SOB.

Never mind Jack Sock turned 19 two weeks after Kalamazoo last year and it was his second year playing, I didn't hear him complain about that, but now that the spotlight is on.....

Truth is a lot of people don't like this kid including USTA, sure don't see many WCs in his future..

Ah the inside of tennis is soooo ugly.

Wow, great win for Novikov!! Bradley Klahn (Stanford, NCAA champ 2010) plays Melzer and Steve Johnson (USC, NCAA champ 2011, 2012) takes on Rajeev Ram on Wednesday. Hopefully at least one of them advances to the 2nd round.

i think it's more personal than sticking up for his brother actually

novikov took down jmac's pupil rubin in the semis - considering rubin had just beaten krueger, reasonable chance he wins that tourney and gets his usopen shot if dn isn't around

but yes, jmac and pmac say whatever idiocy fits their agenda, what else is new?

Wasn't on national tv so I didn't see it. Also didn't end the longest home winning streak in NCAA history!
