4.5+, all-court, traditional / classic style, mix of spins, but almost never super heavy topspin like modern game.

I have Volkl Tour 10 Mids (93, 18x20), C10 Pro (98, 16x19, wife's racquets), and transitioning to Head YTIG Prestige S (on the way, also 98, 16x19). I break strings more often than my wife, but have generally preferred 17g, despite durability issues.

Looking at either Forten Sweet, Gosen OGSM, or Prince OSG, for crosses, any in either 16g or 17g.

    Thanks kindly in advance.

If you go with Gosen stay with the 16g. I think it plays MUCH better than the 17 and it lasts way longer too. Also, I would go with the white as I think the black is a little too soft.

    Good luck,

    I'd use OGSM.

I dont notice a huge difference in performance from the 17 to the 16..maybe im missing something.

I've never used Gosen but we are about to hybrid Cyclone with POSG. Black Iontec mains x POSG has pretty well become our go to setup, but I like to keep a third stick with something different.

Does the Gosen play that much different that POSG?

Forten Sweet and Gosen OG both play nicely. But if you were going to go with Gosen, I'd say use the natural color over the white.

I like Forten 17g, just my preference I guess. I have played with Cyclone 17g (52M) and Forten 17g(58C) and really liked the setup.

Thanks for all the responses. I might throw Leoina 77 in the mix as well, from some of what I've read. Can't believe that stuff is still around!

    Update:

Been experimenting with full bed of Cyclone 17, as well as crossed with OGSM 16, at 53/48. Full bed seems to be better @ baseline, hybrid works better for my all-court game and net play.

Also, picked up some Forten Sweet 17 to try as a cross, but haven't yet. Full bed and hybrid string jobs still have plenty of play in them, and haven't lost much tension.

    ^^^ Same as the hybrid, 53M / 48C

This is in my wife's old C10 Pros, which I'm using at present, as I haven't yet transitioned to the Prestige S.
