Great volley from the sexy worm to take the set.
wow the noise in that arena L O U D
CR gets a jolt to wake up with that set! 1 all
which team is better ? Lopez and Nadal or Lopez and Gronollier ?
Another ****ing absolute goddamn gift at 5-6
Things not looking too good for the Doubles Champions of the World right now.
Even though everyone is tired, Czechs have the home crowd to carry them.
Hoping Bird&Worm take it in 4. The last thing they need is another 5-setter.
I hope they have another five-setter. If Berd-itch wants to trash talk, let him earn it.
The Czech couple really dominant right now, they are winning all their games at love or 15.
I think the stadium is max capacity. Can't say the crowd didn't come out to support their team.
It made me lol
Bwahaha. DC Radio guys complaining about how much they hate hearing "Eye of the Tiger" again.
Both Berdy and Steps with shots down the alley. 2 points away.
This poor linesman, haha.
Berdy got hosed on that call - that would have been the match
Boom - Czech's in the driver's seat. Berdy has to do it against Ferrer tomorrow.
Spain got Rosoled one more time.
Who blew it today for Spain ? I think Gronollier.
Awesome atmosphere in Prague and the match wasn't half bad either.
You're not the only one who thinks that. DC radio commentators said the same.
Does Berd-itch's voice annoy anyone else? He's doing an interview right now, and that monotone tenor whine is just ... really really grating.
Announcer said Plan was to Attack Lopez. is he stupid ? Gronollier is the one choked on critical moments
The Rosolization continues!
He was the same yesterday, but Radek is talking in a similar tone too. Think the noise is a factor.
ROTFL. hey, his girlfriend thinks it turns her on.
Ferrer and Almagro are still favourites in their respective matches, though not by much.
I'm sure she's been brainwashed by the cash.
I couldn't take waking up next to those stary blue eyes. It would give me nightmares.
Is Fillipo Lopez piping mad about now ? He is telling the captain, see if I played we would have won this doubles match. He was laughing and carrying on when spain started to lose the doubles match in the 4th set.
I saw his face
REALLY? Isn't the long necked girlfriend a model though? I wanna know how her hair is effin perfect all the time.....
Who's got the advantage tomorrow ? Berdych or Ferrer. who will win ?
czech 2:1 Spain
R4: Berdych v Ferrer--HTH 3-5--Ferrer*
R5: Stepanek v Almagro--HTH 2-1--Almagro*
ferrer d berdych,,,, it up too almagro for spain too win davis cup finals.
almagro 1 win against stepanek was 2012,,,
Tough to say.
Ferru, I think, has the "head" advantage. He thinks strategically -- he has to, because he has a height disadvantage vis-a-vis just about all the others in the Top 10 -- and he keeps a comparatively cool head. I haven't seen a lot rattle him, over the long term (he does his share of swearing over individual points, LOL).
Berd-itch, as referred to, has the height advantage, and he'll have the full max capacity crowd support, sigh.
Ferru will be fatigued as a result of back-to-back titles as well as his WTF participation. Berd-itch will be tired b/c he'll be playing in three ties back-to-back-to-back, including this one. So I think the "fatigue factor" will be kind of equal.
Hard to call.
I'm talking about Berd-itch's stary blue eyes. I'm a girl.
They give me the creeps.
It is a very probable scenario.
Ferrer is the favourite against Berdych, sure.
Almagro looks to be in a relatively good form, but I think it will come down to nerves in the end. If Almagro gets nervous it might get interesting.
I hope Berdych beats Ferrer.
I meant him! I think he's really attractive. Sorry, writing fail for me.
So does one of my good friends. :-?
I guess the good news is that since our taste is so different, we'll never fight over boys. Give me King Juan Carlos of the Too Early Retirement and Perfect Hair any day.
Back on topic -- I don't know how Feli feels about this. He and FeVer usually won the doubs together, but I don't know that he's played enough with either Granola or the other Lopez for them to have been a better doubs team.
That said, he's relatively fresh, with no WTF participation, and he has a good game for the hard court. Another tough call.
that was pretty funny!
Bout that time the stream went sideways and I was also listening to the radio version, instead of watching ... Lo and Behold I fell back to sleep (around 6:30 a.m.)
apparently, the Czechs solved their problem . . .
I think this must be a regional trait ... I noticed it some years ago that the Czech men in particular speak in that relatively "high" monotonic vocal register ... I think some in the surrounding regions do the same, but I can't be specific at the moment ... it's just something I've notices in the few interviews I've heard from that geographic region in the past couple years ...
maybe it's an eastern european thing? hopefully, there's a vocal coach out there who might enlighten us? for example, listen to this (the fourth window in at the moment) recent (valencia) interview with Alex Dolgo ... his vocal expressions are similar to those of berdych and stepanek ...
I am not sure whether I would say anyone blew it. Berdych-Stepanek is some serious doubles pair which could contend at top doubles level if Tomas didn't have a top 10 career.
The strange thing, actually, is that Granollers and López have reached a level where they can seriously compete with them, and maybe tire them a bit for tomorrow.
Nope, not hearing it. Sasha's accent is Ukranian, and there's more variation in the range of his speech, even though he's also a tenor (my dad is too).
But you know I make lots of allowances for Sasha.
Nobody's saying the Czech team didn't do their job or their best.
Even the DC radio commenters talked about how both the Czech boys were going to Granola. He's the less experienced of the two Spaniards at being consistently at this level -- and I'd guessed he wasn't quite ready for how tired he might be after the two of them became Doubles Champions of the World.
Sure keeps it interesting
The DC comms have seen a lot of matches, and they remarked on how exciting it was.
I would love to see fifth match between Stepanek and Almagro, just like in DC finals 2010, but i think that Berdych will beat Ferrer 3:1
wow about recognizing the accent! ... that's impressive ... I've become interested in all things Ukranian because of Sasha, but I doubt I could recognize the accent if my life depended on it!
I was more listening to the relative "weakness" or "threadiness" of the voice, a voice that doesn't seem to be "full-bodied," doesn't seem to come from the chest, but more from the throat ... if that makes sense.
K so take a listen to this interview with berdych/stepanek posted on the davis cup website ... to me they both sound as if they have "unnaturally high" (i'm not sure about the correct description) voices ... is that what you mean by a "tenor" voice?
T. Berdych and R. Stepanek Interview @
Ferrer is a lot better than Berdych, but I won't make a prediction of who will win.
A nice finish to the year tomorrow, should be a fun day of tennis
Hope Ferrer beat Berdych so that we'll have a 5th match. Then either one can win. (Almagro or Stepanek)
Vamos Da veed!!! Great opening game from him.
What's with the Bat on Dave's shorts?
