Someone should teach Nico how to hit a dropshot here and there, he is utterly predictable.

Rob Koenig tweeted apparently Stephanek was going to quit after 2001 estoril because he had no money to travel. He won that tourny in doubs and now 11 years later about to become a national hero!

Congrats to the Czech team! Lendl must be very happy.

    So was he.

That said, I personally don't think you're him.

Ferrer was awesome against Berdman, one of the best performances of the year, I hope all the people on this forum who refer to him as a CC specialist watched that match.

Thanks zagor (I guess), I'm most familar with NSK and the rest of the army.

Ferrer gets way too much hate here, but he is a great player.

Awesome! Nice to see Berdych go up to Radek and urge him to shake hands with their opponents.

    Radek 2.0 next year?

I think every ********* deep inside wanted Spain to lose the final. Had they won, Nadal's bunch of DC titles would lose any significance (since Rafa hasn't played a single rubber this year).

Not like it's worth a lot for a singles player in his singles resume anyway, btw.

    Just saying.

Congratulations to the Czech Republic, they played amazing!

Also want to say that Ferrer was a great #1 for Spain, he carried Nadal's role very well.

Does this mean Rosol is eligible for the Champions tour? This could be really fun!

Just goes to show how important it is for Nadal to play in the Davis Cup, and when he does, they almost always win. Federer should take note. Although he'll likely NEVER win Davis Cup, since he isn't much of a team player (which makes sense, since Federer never shows much emotion on the court, and Nadal always shows emotion on the court, and so Nadal is far more passionate than Federer, and hence wins Davis Cup for his country).

The only tour Rosol is eligible for is the Challenger tour. Where he belongs.

LOL when Federer decides to skip DC in a year, the Swiss team won't even qualify for the World Group (since Wawrinka is a horrible DC player - can't even beat Fish on clay in Switzerland) whereas Spain still reaches the final and barely loses it in a 5th rubber (thanks to Chokemagro showing up - in normal conditions, let's not kid ourselves, he would wipe the floor with Stepanek) with Nadal absent.

Spain against any team is pretty much unbeatable at home on clay while away it`s always a 50-50 chance.
I still think, even in poor form,Lopez would have been a better choice for the second singles player.Indoor,on a hard court and with plenty of DC experience,he certainly would have played better in those conditions compared to Almagro

Well I was wrong. I thought Ferrer would win but didnt think he would crush Bird the way he did in front of Birds home crowd. I thought Stepanek would not perform well enough to win since he seemed to choke his semi final doubles match away in London being up 7-3 and 8-5 in the final set tiebreaker and missing a sitter volley and an easy forehand passing shot along the way.

Thought Almagro would put up a better fight. I guess the crowd is a powerful force. If it were played in Spain maybe the outcome would have been different?

LOL, Rosol and Minas are champions too and get the same trophy and Medals. they are winners, they could be dangerous to Nadal next year.

Haha yeah but Stepanek loves fast indoors. Hard to deny him here. Nadal's style of play would be exposed on these fast hardcourts. Heck he might have trouble with them on WTF courts that are much slower.

This was a fun tie and the Spaniards kept it much closer than I thought they would.

Congrats to the Czech team for their title.

Kinda feel bad that Romania doesn't have one despite playing 3 finals. :(

Why didn't Spain play Granollers or Deliciano? Almagro has always been sh-t indoors. I'm happy that they didn't though, I was rooting for the Czechs all the way.

Will Nadal be playing in the challengers to get some practice and momentum before coming to the 500's and masters ?

I loved seeing Stepanek playing some good S&V throughout the match.
