Great to see longer clips from Hoad and Trabert. At first i was a bit confused, what year they show. It must be the DC final or challenge round of the 1953 season, which was played obviously in January 1954. In the 1954 season, Trabert and Seixas won the Cup back. As the sound shows, DC drew really big crowds those years, at Sydney they had 25ooo people in the stands. What i noted about Hoad, are his very swift swings, almost without backswing. He had shortened the grips of his racket, to play almost with the palm of his hand - a bit like McEnroe later on.

Notice also, compared to today's players, how quickly Hoad goes to the baseline and serves. No endless bouncing of the ball. He has a very fast concerted swing, a bit like Roscoe Tanner...
