    G'day Yours!05

Another good article dude keep em coming I love how you support the Aussie tennis scene .

Quote "However, the 26-year-old's form at the Australian Open suggests he can beat Wawrinka if Australia Davis Cup captain John Fitzgerald selects him to play singles."

I hope JA gives the kid a shot , I have stated before I like the way Luczak plays, gutsy tennis . 50/50 odds nearly worthy of a bet. GO the Aussies.

First up Luczak v Lammer. Possibility of a good start.
    Then Gooch v Wawrinka.
    Dubs: Arthurs/Hanley v Bastl/Allegro, as expected.

6-0. Even better.:) Found his game, he is the better player. Lammer could get confidence back again next set.

Yay! This success should give Looch a real leg up into 3rd rounds this year.
Poll: who has the worse ball toss - Dementieva or Luczac? Still he's used to dragging it back from outer space.:)

Mr. Luczak proves to be a man of his word.
He promised he would deliver and did it.

Is this match shown live in Oz?

Reckon Luczak toss is odd but he catches it and apologises like Rafter - that's cool enuff.

Bear in mind that it's his first (ever!) Davis Cup tie, brilliant match in the end well done Luczak. He's just been interviewed and he said that this is a real high point. Great stuff indeed and he was very modest about winning and overcoming the dropped first set.

Shaping up to be a great tie - partly because the main stars are NOT playing from both sides - it's time for the other players to get a crack at it. One of the fan(atic)s is holding up a sign that says "it's the Lucci and Gucci show".

Chris Guccione seems to try to end the point a little quick for clay, but being a bigger player (2 metres!) he'd not want long rallies. Cripes his serve is just as effective on the European fast clay as it is on grass. The Swiss clay actually seems faster than the Oz Open's rebound ace.

    Wawrinka finishes it up...

Day 1 ends with a score of 1-1, everything's still up in the air.

    G'day

Thanks to all the posters with match results , I was only able to last until the fourth set with Luzcac , I'm glad he won. Did anyone check out the most expensive tennis shoes ever worn buy a pro player. I see that he went patriotic with the green coloured shoe laces. I think we have found our replacement for Mr Hewitt , very similiar game in alot of ways. Luzcac impresses me with the style of play he uses , he also scare the life out of me with that ball toss sometimes .

I missed the Gooch's match how did he play ?

Won. Arthurs has a back problem. Unlikely to play tomorrow. Allegro played very well and dissolved into tears at the end.
Good crowd. Swiss had a Brass band, to which the Aussie response was a sign: "Your Band is Queer". Quite right.:)

Early news says Guccione will play Bastl in the fifth. Gooch still has decision-making/shot selection lapses but can play better, and serve better, than he did against Wawrinka.
BTW, the Swiss have been serving up a real 1h bh feast.:)

4th+5th rubbers are starting very soon on tv.

Anyone know if the telecast is delayed because of the winter olympics?

Gooch 7-5, and looking a tiny bit fired up. Fitzy very excited, "You break him, that's the boy". Swiss coach communicating telepathically.
