Can Austria really use the dirt to its advantage and break the current Davis Cup champions?

I've been watching a match in PBZ Zagreb Open finals between Ljubicic and Koubek. Ljubo's win wasn't that impressive.

Also, Ancic losing to Karlovic showed that he's still got some struggle in his mind to become a complete player.

Ugh, tough match. Sadly, not a very convincing performance by Mario. All this guy really lacks is consistency... :-|

Wow, Ljubicic is up a set & 3-1 on Koubek. I'm more impressed with Croatia in this tie than any of their wins last year(except the US 1st Round)
Guess they can play on clay.

    Wow, great comeback from Mario!

That first match may have just set the tone for the rest of the tie... Ljubo is up on Koubek now, and I can't help but think that they'll be the heavy favorites for the doubles, given their past history as a team.

This tie might not end up being as close as I had thought.

Guess only clay can't win it for you :) So much about clay-courter Koubek and "revenge" for Zagreb :)

    Woohoo...Croatia in the QF.
The doubles' match was really heart-attacking. I was totally crazy in the 5th set when Mario was serving at 5:3 and blew it.
Ah...we're not defending champions by accident :)

I think Ljubicic is now like 12:0 or so in DC doubles 6 with Goran and 6 with Mario - amazing!!!
    Correct me if I'm wrong!

2 comebacks from 2-0 down for Mario!

Wouldn't know about the record with Goran...but him and Mario are doing a great job...considering that on Tour they like never play doubles, especially together and they've beaten Bryan/Bryan and other double specialists like today.

No, he is 6-0 WITH Ivanisevic and 6-0 WITH Ancic.
He lost to CORRETJA / COSTA partnering ZOVKO, COUTO / MARQUES partnering ZOVKO, PAVEL / TRIFU partnering ZOVKO , and KETOLA / LIUKKO partnering HIRSZON

It was all too logical to put replacements in after such difficult matches. And Cilic really is very fortunate with his rookie year on tour. He's got Zagreb Open behind him, a Davis Cup experience and a sure Umag Open WC later on.

He played well in Zagreb, but still needs a lot of polishing to do before he gets there. I thought that with only a little more experience and confidence on his side he might have won the Seppi match too.
