I have a pair of the newest nike CB's. I have no idea whats wrong with them but the heel portion of one of the shoes is "bubbled out".

This is hard to explain in words. By bubbling out i mean the heel of the bottom of the shoe is popping out. Almost like the air sac was over inflated or something. This makes the bottom of the shoe oval instead of flat and may easily cause the twisting of an ankle or other injury. In all my years playing with nike shoes never seen this before.

Question: can I mail them back to nike to get a new pair or would i mail them to TW in this case?

Why not call TW with the question since you bought them from here. Also, a picture tells a thousand words. ;)

Many CB users have that issue. And I suspect Air Max Cages to have that tendency too (I think someone mentioned it here, not sure). Yet they didn't died on me, but I hope they don't in the future. Had the bubble deflating on a CB 4.1 pair too. Nike doesn't protect the bubble nearly enough. Send the pair back, and/or get another one without an air bubble.

Never had a the max cushion "bubble outwards." All of my CB's in the past have had their bubbles popped due to a lot of wearing down and eventual ripping due to this.

How long have you had the shoes for? I'm not sure if you can return it after a few months or not to TW. Just shoot them an email or call them.

I had the same issue. Nike confirmed that is a defect and I'm waiting to receive my $130 gift card.

    bubbled out CBs

My wolf gray/black/sunburst CBs did the same thing. My voucher is on the way as we speak. Nike was really good about it. Great customer service experience.

Here is a picture for you guys. Ill be sending them in for the Nike voucher card. However it's a bummer that I can't use the 6 month warranty as I usually wear out my shoes within 2 months.

Well im sending the shoes back, im assuming nike will give me a voucher for 130.00. In doing so i will have sent the original box and receipt back to nike. I wont be able to make another claim on my purchase.

Also i doubt ill be getting CB's again. I'll probably get the vapors with the 130 voucher, and vapors dont have a warranty anyways.

Vapors don't last nearly as long. And that's an understatement.

This is a problem with heat. It's the same reason as the dead spots on courts. It should die down soon. This happened to my teammate during our leagues team finals tournament. It was roughly 100f~ degrees. He sent a picture into nike and he got the okay'd for warranty right away. But he left the shoes in his garage over a weekend and they returned to normal. So now he gets to enjoy his CB's and still have a 100% sure warranty on them!

I have had mine for a little over 3 months and they are starting to do the same. I looked at them closer tonight after reading this thread and realized that the air pocket in the heel has cracked as well. There is still good tread on the shoe, so I am not sure if sending them back would be an option. Any idea?

Yes I've had this happen on the CB 4.3 Black with the volt sole after about 6 weeks of play. I'm very light on the heel of my shoes with most of them looking brand new with the forefoot in holes. This was actually on a pair of warrenty replacements I talked with Nike and they repaced them because it is a defect witch is covered by 2yr warenty I think but you can deal with TW, you should also watch out for the lace loop defect witch I haven't had hapen to me only on the gray/peach version.
After this heel burst issue I tried a pair of AMC and smoothed them in 4 weeks and honestly after the third week my legs were in pain until I woke up the next morning any time I played.

I wouldn't let the defect hinder my next purchase unless your realy hard on your heels. Iv'e had about 6 pair and its happened to 1 and been replaced with little trouble. If the pair of your defective shoes is only a few weeks old I would stress for my sole warrenty to still be covered aswell as the defect part on my replacement. When you call and complain to TW they may give 20% off a pair of shoes as unsatisfied discount so you can purchase a discounted pair while you deal with warrenty .

There are only 2 major options in tennis shoes for the vast majority CBs or Baricades. Baricades are known more for their heel durability CBs for their forefoot. Mind you their are some other good shoes out their but for me I'll stick with CBs for now I get about 12 weeks out of them before the sole is worn through, considering their the industry standard in forefoot durability I cant afford new shoes every 6 weeks even if 1 out of 2 is free. The barricade 8 seems to have a fit more like the CB by the description, I would like to try a pair on before buying them and see some positive reviews but I think they may just be the best shoe out their currently.

    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Josh

Exactly my thoughts John, except that I get a little bit more out of my CB/s 4.3, at least during the summer, on clay.

well, I haven't seen that before, but the laces, or at least the anchor system, just self destructs on CB 4.3s..

to the guy who thinks there are only 2 options, expand your mind, sheesh.

Lotto, in particular, make brilliant shoes, read the TW review..

Even thought it is a bit swollen up, but i dont think it affects the playability of the shoes.

My son's CB did the same thing, but this was after month's of use and they were ready for the 6-month outsole warranty anyway, so I didn't give it a second thought.

Notice I said "the vast majority" not all. Whoever has the time and money to try some of the possibilitys like: asics gr5, Kswiss bigshot or wilson rush pro
Which I think to be the stongest of the field behind cb4.3 & b7or8. Not to mention if you only play a few hours a week there are tons of options but I play at least 10 hours a week on hard courts and slide, so shreding shoes is a problem for me hence my biassed opinion.

I would be thankfull if you can guide me to a better shoe that will last over 12 weeks and still feel good with a warrenty.

Personally I love Kswiss for comfort yet durability was a huge issue(defier rs) & I would love to try and most likely will try bigshots eventually and based on reviews the other 2 I mentioned are very good aswell.

Unfortunatly I have never worn B7 and will be trying the 8s since they seem to have improved the fit for me personaly but to me the cb4.3 is the best of comfort, support and durability. I dont like the design flaws as much as anyone else but the lacing system has only affected me with 1 color varriation as well as the heel crack issue on 1 varriation and honestly I guess nike & tw team kept me happy with customer support.

    Regards,
    Josh

The irony of this situation has surfaced.

After about an hour on court this afternoon, pop goes the weasel I lift my foot and the heel is blown out.

O well I talked with TW these shoes were purchased on May 6th first day of play was probably 13th color wh/bk. I think I will get my warranty rolled over on my replacement though.

On my 3.3 the only thing that went wrong are the laces anchor system on the left side of the right shoe.
Kinda annoying feeling my foot slipping inside a bit.

Anyway, this is after like 2 years, I played a few times, only on hardcourt, didn't want to ruin them on clay where I use the Adidas Barricade's.

You might have a point about ruining them on clay, do you mean the shoe loops? B/c I've broken one of my, probably trying to tie the shoes snugly, since I need to all the support I can get on the slippery (not properly maintained/watered) hard thru (clay).

Just speculating here...but the pics look like the shoes maybe spent too much time in the trunk of the car. Heat does weird things to shoes...
