Well well, this could be a good one if Verdasco is up to the task. Verdasco only plays his best against Nadal who he envies and hates, and since Istomin is not Nadal, Verdasco probably won't play his best. Istomin is a great player and what a story, came back on the tour after life-threatening debilitating tragic car accident and losing great Marsel Ilhan, and nearly beat US Open champion and No. 1 in the world player Nadal at the US Open last year. I think Istomin in three close sets, what do you think?

My mind says Istomin in three sets, but my heart says Istomin in straight sets, so I am voting with my heart actually.

    ROVEX,
I hope your man Verdasco mans up today against Istomin wins the match and plays Del Po so therefore Del Po will not only be able to beat him but take him out of the top 10 once and for all.

I have to disagree with you. He is a very good player, maybe not a top 10, but certainly top 100.

Federer Say,"Istomin is a great player, definetly top 15 player the way he hits and stays at the baseline"

Fedace,: "I think Istomin isn't very good. sold of Challenger player at best."

Hmmm....I take the First Fed opinion...knows players on tour!

you throw the word "epic" around to liberally. The only thing epic about this match will be the epic choke from Chokedasco. Doesn't matter anyway. Del Potro is going to walk all over the winner. The might as well both not play and go home

LMAO your Del Potro is ranked in ATP top 500, so that's like NTRP 6.5, and Istomin is like NTRP 7.0, so it's a whole level difference and won't even be remotely competitive. Maybe a couple of games per set, so like 6-2, 6-2 for Istomin in the worst case.

Del Potro is 4.5 at best but it just goes to show what low level this tournament is. Istomin? who's he? how many slams has he won? never heard of him before tonight. Del Potro might be a 4.5 but at least he won a slam

Don't really care about the outcome of the match, but is Jarah Mariano in the crowd? Just found out she's dating Verdasco, oh the envy.

These Veedle guys are completely gay. They talk about Fiasco as if he was the greatest looking guy in the world.
Verdasco has a square face flat screen face and is no good looking by no means, well I love women(blonds preferably) so what do I know about guys ah?

DUDE. ALL WEEK. That’s ALL they’ve talked about with Tobasco. They’ve got a bigger crush on this guy than any woman in the world. I don’t think they’ve once talked about his tennis. “oh man he must get the babes, what a hot looking dude. Mmmm I got to get me sum a dat!”

LMAO you call that a slam? I wouldn't call that a slam if you look at the draw - nobody claycourter Monaco and claycourter 50yo retired Ferrero, clowns Melzer/Kollerer who've been banned from the tour, erratic journeyman Cilic, near comatose Nadal with no abs and overhyped impotent Federer to end the walk-through to the title. A decent 12yo USTA girl or a 3.0 from SoCal would have won that one!

i'll give you that. The way Federer played in the final after the first 2 sets, I could have beat him and i'm a 1.5

Well I'm a self-rated 5.0 with a losing record against 1.0's, but I would have cleaned up in that final. Back to the subject though, Istomin going a break down is a very good sign for him - means Chockasko is considering him a Nadal-type hostile figure and playing his best like at that epic AO Semi.

This loss of the first set is what Istomin needs to get fired up. I'm very happy he lost it, that's what I hoped would happen to get this match going.

I doubt he'd get to hit a single forehand in that final if I played - he would have been scrambling for every ball with his weak backhand.

Istomin looks unwell, his advisor should request a doctor on the court to examine him.

Denis just produced the most incredible BH CC pass in history of tennis to give himself a look at 0-30 in the middle of the second set. He's starting to play for real, this is good to see.

istomin should switch to a bigger racquet, quit tennis and use a 1 handed backhand. He needs major help

Well congratulations to Verdasco, he played very well. Istomin played a couple of loose points and it cost him. Still make no mistake, Istomin and Golubev will be in top 10 before the end of this year.

if you think that you'd better call up Günter Parche because he's got a lot of work to do before year end...

I am not familiar with that individual, but I do see that name listed as a known associate of Brooke Shields in my notes. I'll ask her about your friend Mr. Parche next time I talk to her.
