I was diagnosed with diabetes today and I was wondering how it effects those who play frequently. I am a 4.5+ all-court player age 45 who plays 3-4 times per week and an occasional tournament (USTA districts consisted of 5 matches in 3 days).

How do you manage blood sugar levels around match times and what drinks do you take on the court (will gatorade screw you up)? Any insight would be helpful.

    Thanks!

    I did a search with
    diabetes tennis training
    at yahoo
    and found the following article:
    http://www.runsweet.com/6109/12934.html
    perhaps it helps.
Also, the site in general seems of some interest in your case.

try to do similar searches at yahoo and google:
    http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search
    with
Subject Return only messages where the subject contains
    diabetes
and you will find many Usenet postings
    and newsgroups such as
    misc.health.diabetes
where you should read and post.
