Does it really make that much of a difference wrapping the string around the diablo instead of just going straight to the gripper?

I know it's supposed to make a more consistent stringbed, but how much does it really matter. Most crank machines don't have them.

it does matter because the angle of the string changes, as it enters the gripper, depending on the position of the tensioner on the track. our spring tensioner machines provide more consistent results because we eliminate some of the variables.

Thanks Bret, that makes sense. Another question. The gripper jaw adjustment screw tends to back out. Is that normal? I keep mine pretty much all the way in and don't have any slipping yet so I'm not sure its a problem.
