What are the differences between the Head LM Instinct XL Tour made in Austria and the Czech Republic ones? Are the stiffness, weight, production, quality control, etc ... better at the Austria factory or the Czech one? Thanks

I had some of these before and i couldnt really tell whcih was which. They felt very very similar in my hands and in play they were very much alike.

Sorry to reply to an old thread.

I just received two brand new ones made in the Czech Republic. The mass seems to be higher than all published specs. With plastic on grip and the head logo dampener in the little plastic bag and zip tie, both measured exactly 335 g. This is unstrung and without the cardboard in the string bed.

Without the plastic on the grip and the dampener (little bag + zip tie), I would say it should be very close to 330 g.

TW's published spec was 335 g strung. So there is about 10 g of difference here (the ones I bought are heavier by about 10 g).

I have two of these racquets which I like very much. Strung without the dampener they are about 355 grams. I would estimate they are a couple of points head light. These things can put a serious pounding on the ball for sure.

^^ The mass is 325 grams unstrung I think.
Plastic + dampener could totally make sense as a 10 grams difference.

Now after some more looking, I found there are three different masses published by various websites:

TW: 335 g (strung); this seems to be a bit light (compared to mines).
TW Australia: 344 g (strung); this seems to be right (compared to mines).
A particular Euro website: 325 g (unstrung).

DE19702's is 355 g strung. Unless there is an over grip or some other things, this is a very heavy one. String added somewhere around 15 g.

Same here. I have a couple of the Yt Radical Pro but I always seem to go back to this racquet. I installed a leather grip and added 6 grams to the head at the 10 & 2 o'clock positions and I can really pound the ball. I hit twice a week with a 5.5 player, I am 4.5+, and the Tour XL really helps me handle his heavy ground strokes. Great stick.

What would ppl say are the main traits and qualities of this frame?... feel... maneuverability (is this a bit sluggish?)... topspin... power... b-line bashing... etc. For reference or whatever, re XL size rackets, I'm familiar with the PD+.

Thanks,

R.

It is just one of those frames that is special. I brought mine out of the closet again. I brought it back to stock. 352 grms with overgrip.10 pt HL. I had it at 28 inches 368 grms and it played well and, it wasthe only 28 inch frame i liked. It has power on ground strokes and serve also, wonderful feel. As far as sluggish it, works fine for me at 62. If you have a different game i, don't know. I have The EX03 GRAPHITE and, have decided to try and, make it match the Tour's specs. I don,t think anybody would be unhappy to have one in their bag.

tailofdog, 352 g strung with overgrip is about 330 g unstrung (the same as mine). 330 g + 5 - 6 g (over grip) + 16 - 17 g (string) = 352 g.

t-swede, 360 g with overgrip and dampener. Do you use leather grip? If yes, then yours could also about 330 g unstrung (leather should be a few grams heavier than the stock synthetic grip).

There are definitely two different weights. It is either due to quality control (but both I bought are exactly the same) or rackets made in different locations. Take a look at this thread (see below). These guys have found the rackets with the black butt caps have more mass than ones with silver butt caps, by about the difference I am seeing between mines and the TW published numbers.

The TW 335 g strung value is low. I cannot see how both of mine can be that low once strung.

Took mine out of retirement and, undid the modifications. 352 grms with overgrip and, dampner.
Forgot what a sweet frame it is!! I am going to try and match my EXO3 to the same specs

Thanks for your data point, tailofdog. Yours is the same as mine and it is closer to 330 g unstrung (mines) than 335 g strung (TW).

330 g + (about) 17 g (string) + (about) 5 g (over grip) = 352 g.
