Using the Wilson sheet, I am a clear 4 1/2. However, I don't seem to be comfortable with either my eastern backhand grip and my serve grip (varies from continental to eastern backhand). It just feels as if I can not get a firm grip on the handle. I have tried to increase my grip, went to 4 1/2 + overgrip and also tried 4 5/8. The 4 5/8 was clearly too big, while it is great for forehands, I lost the tiny bit of feel I had with my backhand grip. Slice backhands on the other hand worked pretty well. So yesterday I picked up an old racquet with a 4 3/8 grip. While, according to the grip size rules, this is definitly too small for me (middle finger touching handpalm if I squeeze hard enough), my backhand grip felt incredibly firm. For the first time I could really feel the bevels in what I think is a correct way. What do you make out of this? Should I decrease my grip on my playing racquet or will I open myself up to numerous of injuries due to playing with a too small grip? Anyone went to a smaller grip with positive results?
