Interesting as the new prostaff 95s is 16x15, custom made I guess
I counted 18x17 as well. Ik Dimitrov already doesn't use a 95, but I didn't know it was this string pattern. Wilson's trying every pattern possible it seems.
for What purpose exactly ??????? if they find the right string pattern, will Grigor win 19 Majors before he retires ??
The racquet looked rather large compared to Haase's but white will do that.
wow that is weird.
Interesting pattern. So this, together with he smallish head, should give both spin and pinpoint accuracy?
Is that a gut/4g hybrid?
It does look like some form of 4g. It's cool some pro's are trying SET. I think Dolgopolov is also trying a SET pattern as well.
Dimitrov needs bigger sweetspot because he often mistimes the ball and mishits the ball of his backhand side. This racket may just put him over the edge and Wimbledon win in next 3 years.
I think that might be pushing it a little...
Maybe he prefers the sensation of a denser stringbed, but also enjoy the mains moving across fewer crosses? (Wilson's spin technology)
Interesting -typically 18 mains would have 20 crosses - right? So this stick would almost be like the Six.one 98S which has 18 x 16.
I think you're right it is part of the Spin Effect series of frames.
Only if he plays with that black string ?.?????..
Wow- dare I say, a prophecy?
Does it say 95S on the racquet?
OK this is a mystery! It does say 95S - the top says Pro Staff so it's a Pro Staff 95S in 18 x 17!
The Pro Staff 95S is 16 x 15 so what gives? Total custom racquet PJ'd as a PS 95S?
It is likely his old frame just redrilled with the new string pattern...
I saw that too!
Wilson prostaff 95s paint.... and its *almost* the same pattern as the other 95s!
I had heard that Grigor was experimenting with spin effect, funny choice though!
it's special mold made for Grigor.. He tested them out during the holiday weeks in southern cal then took 10 brand new rackets strung up hybrid with them went to Australia.. He played really well with the new prototype rackets.. He told me that he also tried the new Federer's prototype and it's really hard to play with.. even for his level.. What he amazed me the most was he tested like 2-3 weeks max then switch over with it rather than some TT guys here tested for 3-6 months..
Why was the Fed prototype hard to play with?
I'm going to guess either SW or weight.. but I'm curious as well..
Wow, you know him? Cool.
Has Dmitrov's string set up and tension with the new Spin Effect frame been posted? I could not find it when I searched. Do the masses feel that Wilson will launch an 18x17 as well or just a player exclusive model?
What a dumbass statement! NO..they are doing it to see if it improves his play NOW. He never asked to be called "Baby Fed", that was simply a moronic label put on him way to prematurely because he uses a 1hbh and a Wilson PS...instead, just like every other player he's just looking to get better and breakthrough to a slam title..something only 5 GUYS HAVE DONE IN THE LAST 36!!!! So yeah, he's no different than 99.9% of the rest of the ATP tour.
BTW...Not even a Grigor fan...just think the criticism of him is unwarranted considering he's not the one that over hyped himself.
Do you realize you are yelling at FEDACE?
it is special mold.. not release for the public
I think its really promising that pro's are starting to use the spin effect technology. Goes to show that it actually is working if they are willing to use it in ATP events.
Helps they play with poly and can re-string daily...
Same question as Corners above:
Why was the Fed prototype hard to play with?
Don't you know some of the guys on here are more professional that the pros are! There are guys on here who take their tennis ability and equipment more seriously than the pros do, just don't tell them that.
Thanks for the info!
I don't think anyone has posted info on his tension, etc.
As to whether Wilson will sell the frame he uses, I would think this will depend completely on whether they win or lose the lawsuit alleging they engage in false advertising, ala Nike with Tiger's paintjob ball.
Thanks corners. BHBH and I plan on play testing some more of the new Wilson frames including the PS95S and 6.1 95S. We will do a 360 review for anyone interested.
Go for it guys, I'm very interested in your findings! I take it you will be modding both sticks to your regular specs? I think stock they will be too light for my taste coming from the 4D200 Tour...
I was thinking of trying the Pro Staff 95S in stock form to see if a lighter frame will add to the Spin Effect Technology (faster swing speed should equal more spin). I'm sure BHBH will want modifications to his usual specs. If we ever get brave enough we may do a video review a la the good people at TW!
I'd be very interested in hearing your playtest feedback on both frames, especially as stock frames (pre-mod).
Awesome Geoff - I look forward to reading it! Hopefully, Wilson will either choose to, or be compelled to make Grigor's and Roger's new frames available to you before then.
Seeing you guys in action would be very enjoyable! I've read enough of your reports over the years to have a fairly clear image in mind of your styles of play. It would be interesting to see if the reality matches my imagination.
That would be pretty cool. I better not hold my breath though! I would think if Wilson releases Roger's frame that he is using at the AO there will be a lot of hype and buzz around it. The PR manager and marketing team at Wilson will have a field day. I think it could rival the interest of the release of the K90.
Don't set your expectations too high! I am sure on this forum we are 3.0s at best!
the racket needs to be be called "sugarbanger".
What was tension on his strings during AO?
Can clearly sew in this video he's using a racquet larger than 93inch
Yep its clearly 94.2342523 sq in
no, but they can market it for the club player to win their league tournament.
Watching Dimitrov-Murray, and I don't know if it's the color schemes or my eyes, but Grigor's Wilson looks bigger to me than Andy's Head. White seems larger than black, but still..
I think he'll be in the top 10 very, very soon
