I am a Djokovic fan, and I am afraid his reign is coming to an end. His game first of all, is very streaky. On a given day anyone has a chance of beating him.

I think Rafa could end this year number 1. If his knees hold up and he wins RG and wimby and performs well everywhere else, I think he'll lock it up. Djokovic probably can't repeat Shanghai + perf WTF

Djokovic is strongest on Hard courts, When he starts to achieve less on then, then you should worry. He already has won AO. What he does on american hard court is yet to be seen.

Novak has been streaky of late but you feel if he reaches another final be it in a Masters or a Slam, he'll win.

That's my two cents on the matter. :)

Rafa and Novak are likely to continue dominating tennis for a while (in which order will depend on their respective form of the moment). The ones that should be in mourning right now are obviously the Fed fans.

Apart from Nadal....Federer was the best in Rome. What there to cry about!

The fact that Fed hasn't won a title yet for instance. That Nadal has demolished him comprehensively on both hard and clay and that Murray has beaten him in a slam for the first time this year.

Rafa looked like he was concerned about Fed at the net after the match.

    Why are you angry?

You speak on behalf of the Federer fans now.

I, as a Federer fan, am more than happy with his performances. I am sure, that the majority of Federer fans are a reasonable people, so, no reason, why they shouldn't be either.

Fedfans lost hope in 2008 and learnt from Federer bouncing back in 2009,2010 and 2012. Now it much easier to appreciate his play and enjoy the great once in while performances like 2011 FO, 2011 WTF and 2012 Wimbledon.

Optimism.....he going to win a slam and/or titles soon....whether it be Basel or US Open, it all good.

In my opinion this is all going to come to a head at Wimbledon. Except for Murray (which I hope wins b/c of sentimental reasons) all three have an equal chance of winning if they are healthy (back, ankles, knees).

Seems like I have to repeat my lines once again. Raffy is terrified. The king has already invaded one of his fortress. At RG, Raffy will be dethroned. The Heaven and oracles are prophesying the rise of a new victor at RG who will then later glorify the world with his 4 gems in 2013.

True, but he lost at Miami, his best Masters tournament. That was a perfect example of how if someone is 'on' Djokovic is very vulnerable.

Nadal lost Monte Carlo, but has since regrouped by retaining Barcelona and Rome, and gaining Madrid. Djokovic's attempts to gain Madrid and Rome ended in abject failure.

Failure but not against Rafa. It would be difficult to get upset by other players in best of 5 as fitness also comes into consideration. And once we get Rafa vs Djoker....Bannnnnngggggg.

Okay I’m trying to remember but wasn’t Dj going for some kind of record at Miami? Same thing with Nadal at MC, his 8th win or something. This adds so much more pressure on the players that we as mere fans, cannot comprehend.

Djokovic didn't even get to Rafa. Even worse.

Remember last year when Djokovic trailed by 2 sets to Seppi and was 4 match points down against Tsonga?

Last year, he was trounced by Rafa in MC, look what happened this year.

Even before Monte carlo this year, Rafa was coming off from Indian Wells victory and Djoker from a disappointing loss in Miami and davis cup injury. Then he regrouped when he needed to and clinched the title.

    Thanks!
I just remember him having that long string of wins and it seems like there was some other kind of record this years. But as you can tell from my posts the years have not been so kind to my memory. The clay court is my favorite season, even though I start with IW, by the time I get to the French it runs into one long game.

Nadal is now number one in the race, so it's really an issue of what happens post RG. Djokovic needs to start outscoring him in events. Nadal can't win titles and keepon making finals forever, so Djokovic willneed to take advantage when Nadal either skips an event or loses early. But if Nadal wins 2 slams this year he will end the year as number one, that's my feeling, and he already looks to have RG in his grasp, if that happens he will be favourite for Wimbledon and I'm not sure anyone can stop him. Not Federer, Murray is injured right now, and Novak doesn't look all there. Apart from Nadal losing to some journeyman early on, I don't see him losing at RG or Wimbledon.

The problem with that is Cvac really can't gain any points unless he wins RG, Wimby, Cinci, and the USO for the rest of the spring/summer. I do think he will gain some by winning RG, and the USO, but where else can he gain? He's got a ton of points to defend for the rest of the year with wins in Canada, Shanghai, and YEC. Not to mention all the finals he has to defend.

I'm talking about the race, in the calendar year system he is still miles ahead but yeah he doesn't have many places to gain. He has a final at RG, semi at Wimbledon, win at Canada, final at Cinci, win at Shanghai, dunno about Paris, win at WTF.

So then you agree with me that Nadal probably has the year end number 1 locked up?

In year to date race, Djokovic is trailing to Nadal by 690 points so he just has to clear this deficit. Why are you talking about defending? Murray is not in the picture. Rafa is almost a non factor on fast hard courts against Djokovic.

Murray won't be out of the picture forever. You better believe he'll step it up for wimby and defending US open. No one is really surprised that he had a poor clay court season.

Out of picture for the rankings and not for winning the tourneys.I don't think he can cover 2000 points for ATP no. 1.

Yes I don't think he can reach number 1, but he can prevent djokovic from gaining in some of those crucial tourneys like Wimby, Cincy, and USO

I always say what I really think. While Cvac has a lot of points to defend I don't see Nadal doing much in the slams or anywhere else for the rest of the year. He won't be gaining that many more points so I think Cvac's #1 is completely safe.

I am not scared. Djokovic has been a beast in slams and his consistency in getting to latter stages is almost Federer like.

He has now reached 11 straight semis. I think he will be fine. I expect him to do well at RG, but of course winning is another thing altogether.

Djokovic has the mental edge on Rafa based on the win at Monte Carlo. When Djokovic finds his top form again, which he will, he could win another 7 in a row vs. Rafa. Rafa knows this, deep down. Djokovic will be ready to rock and roll in Paris, be sure of that.

I said Djokovic needs to outscore Nadal and you said the problem with that is he can't gain in many places. That would reuslt in Nadal becoming higher ranked than him.

Yeah but as Koenig pointed out during the beatdown today, Djokovic has to get to the final first.

Rafa seems like he's sent the message with way he's played the last 3 tournaments that he's gonna be in the final in Paris, but will Djokovic? That I am very unsure of.

Nadal may end up playing Djokovic in the semi. Tournament organizers would love to have Federer in the final and he'd stand a better chance making the final by avoiding those two guys.
