Got invited by some friends to go see the Wimbledon Men's Final at a sports bar.

I was kind of curious to see:
a) how many people would be watching this match with a 9pm (local time) start time.
b) if more non-TTW tennis fans would be rooting for Djokovic or Alcaraz

a) I was surprised to see a back sports bar full of tennis fans. Almost all stayed for the full match. The audience was mostly Europeans.

b) Out of 120+ people, only about ~2 or 3 wanted Djokovic to win. They loudly cheered whenever Alcaraz won an important point.

I did an informal poll and asked people who they wanted to win. I also asked if they liked Djokovic. Most said that they respected him and his game and accomplishments, but did not like him that much and found his game somewhat boring to watch and were rooting for Alcaraz.

Here is a video of match point from the sports bar.

I could tell from the crowds reactions in the final without watching who won the point if that says something.

Novak is not loved because he came when Rafa and Roger had huge fan bases. Novak interrupted the rivalry so both fan bases did not care for him. I think he a good guy just came at the wrong time.

I don't think people dislike Djokovic as much as they wanted to see the next big thing.
The people that I spoke with in the bar, did not really dislike him. They were mostly just neutral or blah about him. Respected his game and accomplishments but didn't really enjoy watching him play all that much. Didn't find his game that exciting.

The crowd being so unanimously behind Alcaraz was amazing. Loudest crowd support we've seen for one player since the AO 22 Final.

Federer and Nadal fans need someone else to support - they've picked Alcaraz.

Soon Djokovic fans will need to pick omeone else to support and most likely it will be anyone but Alcaraz.

Nothing more to it, it's the circle of life.

Really strange sight to see ordinary ppl cheering for young player who never won this tournament.
As for members of Fedal cult, nothing strange

I only knew a handful of the people in there. Mostly strangers and I don't think any of them are even aware of TTW. They were just tenns fans and people who play tennis.

I think it's a style of play thing too. Nothing he can do about it; it's just the way he plays. He has very few shots in his locker that get people excited. It's methodical and effective but it's not pretty to watch. Even the serve - as great it is - has an almost painful looking elbow twist in it halfway up.

I don't like Djoko but I strongly belive true value and respect will come to him once he retires.Thats just happens with some champions.Navratillova never liked so much in her dominant years.Agassi always loved more than Pete. After retirement respect and some.kind admiration will be there for him.

Alcaraz has the personality to be very popular, which I don't see in Rune or Sinner. CA has that humble yet manly, bright side in him. Very charming personality that everyone can appreciate quickly.

Wimbledon crowd clearly loved Alcaraz more over the 7 time champion, LOL. Shows you Djokovic's true value to tennis.
Wimbledon crowd Just watch couple videos "fake wimbledon fans" They are so old and dumb. They are not mesaure for anything. Tipical Anglo-Saxon idiots who hate everything outside of west world.
