This has gone from bad to worse. ST designs were lame this year but Uniqlo's are dreadfull. Please for the love of God sign with Nike or Adidas.

Can't belive neither of them have offered him a deal, they will lose a a great chance to gain $$$, especially Adidas.

As a Djokovic Fan , i think Djokovic family is pretty evil haha, they probably want to get the rights distributing Uniqlo in Serbia and some other European countries lol
Thats why Djoko is signing with them lol....

Yea but its all the little fanboys who like to dress up like their favorite players (even down to the color cordinated head and wrist bands) who will be shocked to see how expensive and hard to get this stuff will be. 3 stores in NYC and one in late 2012 in SFO.....Press conference tomorrow and the rumor is its a long term deal......so all you folks thinking he will be with adidas or Nike or KSwiss anytime soon dream on.

You are very very close to what I bet will happen - Uniqlo is part of a very large group of design retailers (FAST RETAILING is the name) and has pretty deep pockets and $$$$$) I bet Nole will get a cut or some deal (maybe they will have the retail lease??) on stores in Serbia......

Tacchini didn't sell because the company was unable to stock retail properly. They didn't capitalize on his success one bit. Their clothing looks good aside from that dragon stencil nonsense that popped up a while back.

It's just bad business. They signed Djokovic right before he had a historic year. They didn't capitalize on it, and now they have nothing to offer Djokovic to keep him there.

So, can we assume you read his offers and know better than he whom he should sign with?

He took the best deal that came his way. That's business.

I love all the people whining how Djokovic doesn't wear the brand they wear.

Why should only Nike and Adidas have a presence in tennis?

why did Wilander stick with Cerutti for so long.......sometimes its better to be the big fish in the smaller pond. This will also be about more than tennis outfits.......Uniqlo has no shops in the center of Europe - you watch and see if Nole doesnt somehow get involved with opening retail locations or having the store leases......

Thinking about it, Lacoste would of been a great option. Great brand, great shirts, Roddick wont be there much longer, Gasquet lol.

    Great style, crap quality.

They currently don't have a Tennis line - curious to see what they'll launch.

(Hopefully nothing with Dragons on them)

I'm not sure what you are basing your assessment of the quality on but I have a few articles of Uniqlo clothing (jeans, shirts, one poly athletic shirt) that I picked up in Taiwan because the look and quality impressed me. I was also stopping in to see if they had Nishikori gear but they didn't, unfortunately.

I, for one, really like this move for Nole and hope that TW gets to stock this stuff.

This is absolutely shocking. Had to have been motivated by money. No one leaves the likes of Nike, Adidas, Lacoste, Lotto, and other reputable and legendary brands for a Japanese brand that has yet to send one product to the supposed "illustrious" and "important" US market.

The ST logo was starting to becomes defined by Djokovic, shame for their brand that they couldn't hold their only superstar.

Big time question marks for me. Wondering if they'll incorporate his new logo?

Ah, well. I guess you have a better idea of the quality than I do but I haven't had any quality issues as of yet. The Uniqlo stuff I have has aged and washed as well as any of the Lacoste and Banana Republic clothes I typically wear. /shrug

Personally I think it's a genius move on behalf of UNIQLO.

A lot of their apparel has a "techie" flair to it and if they already have a Tennis/Sports line in JP, then it's easy to ramp that up and promote it in U.S. and European Markets.

Their style is great, and they're affordable (but you get what you pay for - see my comments re quality)

Essentially they are the japanese Gap, but with Design savvy.

For Tacchini, the writing was on the wall, as no U.S. retailers carried stock for most of the year 2012.

If Uniqlo offered me a $50 million contract to wear their clothing, I'm in. I don't care if it's extremely bland/unoriginal...

Neither Nike nor Adidas have offered him a deal because they know they would likely lose money on him. Nobody buys the clothes that Djokovic wears, regardless if it's Nike, Adidas or Sergio Tacchini. When Djokovic was with Adidas, I never saw anyone wearing anything from his Adidas line. The only tennis clothes that seem to sell is Nike's RF line. I see people wearing RF hats everywhere.

That's because they are now heavily discounted since they are at least 3 years old and Djokovic no longer wears them. People will buy stuff that's dirt cheap regardless of sponsorship. Heck, I saw a Adidas Djokovic Falcon tennis shirt that was originally $60 for sale at Ross last year for only $14.99. I considered buying it because it was so cheap and not because Djokovic wore it. But I passed because I just couldn't stomach the ugly design.

Interestingly enough, Novak's new logo is also square-shaped. :)

Let's hope not. However, I agree about that the first few ones could be more eye catching stuffs, even though they are known for their basic casual line.

*I don't know how some of you are so sure Novak hasn't received any offer from Nike or Adidas.

I was a huge Adidas fan back in the day; specially their soccer gear in the original line is a timeless classic. In Tennis circuit they made some nice looking stuff for Marat. I find the new shoe lineup endorsed by Tsonga and Verdasco too tacky. Murray's is still bearable but still not as good as what likes of Lendl used to wear back in the day. Nike is the only saving grace but there too I don't like their new Vapour line up for RF. The new shoes don't look like tennis shoes and somehow I don't think I can wear them for casual use unlike the old lineup.

no company has made anything to make me take notice in years. if i notice clothes, it's cos i notice how dreadful i think they are (novak's rome get-up is a perfect example). tacchini had some style, back in the day. but i guess you could say that about most of the companies these days.

i can't remember the last time i saw a shirt on a player and said, "i gotta have that!"

From now on we will see Djokovic in the tournament in Tokyo, and not to contemporary Bejiing (Beijing), thanks to Uniqlo (acronym for Unique Clothing)

Guess this heralds the demise of Sergio Tacchini...at least as far as tennis is concerned.
