I hate it when tennis shirts have logos on both sleeves. It reeks of desperation, overt marketing and it tacky all round. Seeing Djokovic in the uniqlo with both sleeves having logos on them as well as the check reminds me of.... well, his Tacchini gear.

I also doubt there is any evidence it increases exposure in marketing terms.

Yes, Federer now has a lot of high profile, high dollar endorsements (Wilson, Nike, Rolex, Mercedes Benz, etc), and yes he makes more money NOW than anyone. But most, if not all of those contracts were signed years ago, not much recently. That's why the site said his marketability was said to have peaked. When those contracts expire do you really think they'll be replaced by others just as lucrative?

Yes, you're right, I had it backwards. I believe this is the correct order--Becker won 2 Wimbledons wearing Ellesse, he then signed a big deal with Puma, Puma couldn't pay him or meet orders so he left them and went to Fila and then Lotto. The point is this kind of thing is not without precedent.

Fed probably has long term brand ambassador type contracts. I wanted be suprised if he has a few lifetime contracts. There is no way that Nadal or Nole have even close to the amount of marketing power that Fed does. He could be retired and still be a bigger draw than those two. Roger transcends outside of tennis in a way that Rafa could never pull off. However if Nole continues to win i think he could have huge marketability based on his personality off the court.

It may have two on one sleeve (in Eng & Jpn), but the one on the left side is Novak's logo.

    Disappointing

What a way to make a intro to your new brand than with a bland white zip polo with a few stripes and white shorts. At least put him in that shirt in solid red so he stands out against the backdrop. I like Djoker but feel his choices are very odd. Maybe this was all last minute and this polo was just something to get him in. Japanese brands are all about exclusives and interesting collaborations so I doubt (hope??) that he won't be in the white/white outfit forever. At least he is fitted well and not slobbing around in XXL stuff like Roddick.

(I also don't know what his designers (adidas/ST/ULQ) always put detailing down his right side, his Roma outfit was horrible)

I also don't get his new logo. I watched the design video so I get what they were attempting, but what was produced is a non-memborable few arcs that do not convey tennis or his name. He was getting somewhere with the Adidas bird/hawk imagery, maybe just a bird logo? Or just a square with Dj in it?

Nishikori's UNIQLO shirts have been hit or miss, always seemed tame for such a fun guy. I think their designs are a bit goofy, kinda bad-90s badminton gear.

You summed the Uniqlo gear I've seen to date perfectly right there. They look like 1980s Chinese Communist Party badminton team uniforms.

Uniqlo better put Djokovic into a t-shirt and leave polos to real men like Federer.

Imagine the uproar if Nole had signed with those arriviste Chinese brands like Li-Ning or Erke...I wouldn't have been surprised if he did. Money talks.

Just waiting for Djoker to plaster his Uniqlo shirts with all those ultra-nationalist -sorry- patriotic Serbian colours he seems to wear everywhere nowadays

If you're looking for elegant functional design and European quality you should check out http://playbravesports.com/
This is a British brand which sells in London at The Queen's Club and Harrods.

Tennis warehouse is exclusive seller of ST brand in USA. Because they have their store in Europe from which they import the goods.

To say that Novak is no longer with ST is attack on tennis warehouse's profit that's why they deleted your thread.. Too bad that this forum doesnt allow free speech :-? :-?

You are so right. Uniqlo is bargin house for relatively stylish atheltic wear for low cost.

I actually like their style; simple and clean, not over the top like the latest from adidas. I hope they come out w/ the novak series everywhere soon unlike Nishikori's stuff which was only for japan.

But yea, I hope they don't take it as a license to start selling polos for 80.

"The only way one US retailer, Tennis Warehouse, was able to carry Djokovic’s Tacchini gear exclusively in the US, is that it was shipping gear that it had received from its European affiliate."

Yes, but within the context that it "reeks of despiration" and that you doubt it "increases exposure in marketing terms", implies that either 1) you were referring to Uniqlo logos or 2) you're making up/modifying your argument as you go.

Maybe they mean that they were able to get it in regular basis? because I know that TE and HB used to have some of the ST lines including Djokovic's, but I also know that ST had troubles covering the demand here in the US so maybe TW was able to get all the lines in enough quantities via TWE.

Better how? Aside from that dragon stencil crap, Tacchini had some nice looking designs.

This Uniqlo gear looks pretty generic, so I don't see anything is "way better".

I am more curious about what is the exact contract with Uniqlo.
seems like it's not good as I might expect because the 5 year contract include off courts apparels too:confused:
He might not have any other endorsements from off courts high end apparel companies... I can't image that Djokovic can only wear uniqlo clothes all the time for next 5 years.
Never seen a millionaire only wears Gap/old navy clothes all the time......

They deleted it because Babolast and others in the thread kept citing sources that didn't really exist. Once called out on this by several people, everyone was then called trolls by him. TW deleted the thread for that reason.

Not sure if you were serious about the free speech stuff, but that doesn't apply on a website you sign up for to use.
