TW says he uses Tecnifibre X-1 Biphase 17. Which I find hard to believe that a pro uses an all-multi string job? Does he use something else with it in the crosses? Luxilon maybe?

He used to. I think he switched at the Aussie Open this year. He uses Champion's Choice now I believe (Luxilon/gut hybrid).

That sounds more like a pros choice haha, did he really play with an all multi job?wow I dont know of any pro that does that. All pros either use an all poly or hybrid it w/ gut or multi.

Stepanek uses full 16g gut, and if you count women as pros, many (Williams sisters, pre-retired Henin, pre-retired Clijsters, Davenport, Mauresmo, etc...) use full gut as well.

O yeah well that sounds right cause they have the money to get gut everytime they step on the court haha. But why would Djokovic go with a full multi string job instead of a full gut job?? :?

Personal preference, plus a little more control with the multi I would guess.

Djokovic did you all x-1. Have you tried it? It's a pretty good string. I think it COULD fit the profile of a pro's choice pretty well, but I didn't find it AMAZING like some people on this forum did.

Yep, forgot about him. He strings it high, last I heard it was 75 lbs. Pretty sure it doesn't feel like natural gut at that tension. Natural gut doesn't help preventing you from choking matches though... :???:

X-1 BiPhase is also used by other ATP players. Tipsarevic and the Bryan Brothers use it. As well, I use it :)(so enough said!.....LOL!)

One time I saw an interview w/Haas that said he strings so tight that they will pop randomly in his bag at night so he needs to put them in a corner of his hotel room so he can't hear them snap. :)

Yeah but with his racquet I could see him using X-One.

And I always thought all pros strung at high tensions but I heard Nadal and Federer string at low tension.:-?

Do you get more spin with lower tension?

I think that with all the polys you need to string it quite low to get more power. I Heard with gut you need it that high, so you can get access to the awesome power and control

    Origmarm,

I understand he actually uses red biphase. He does not do a full string job with it, but rather hybrids.

Perhaps some of the tournament stringers who troll these boards and who have recently strung his racquets can confirm. :)

Actually, he didn't in the last 2-3 years as a pro. I can't remember if he used full luxilon (yes, luxilon, not another poly, luxilon) or a hybrid with gut.

Ah, thank you. That was actually bothering me (call me crazy...). I trust the gut was in the crosses?

Thanks for clearing that up Nick. I knew Tipsarevic used a hybrid, but couldn't remember if he used the x-1 in the mains or crosses.
