he doesnt use and under grip and hasa one hander so he doesnt need the top hand on the racquet and can overlap the tourna so it is a little more padded

Not all Pt630 has cap grommet. The earliest version has bumper guard.

don't know from personal use, but from what i understand there are weight and stiffness differences. so no, a pt 280 w/ CAPs would not be a pt 630.

I don't know for the US, but in Europe the racquet was always named Pro Tour 630 (630 is the size in sq cm which means 98 sq in, there were also a 690 version, which means 107 sq in). But after one year Head sold also the Pro Tour 630 Cap with the cap bumper. The rest was the same racquet. Muster oder Guga were using the Cap version (and Guga still does) and Haas used the normal bumper guard version before he signed the contract with Dunlop. I also think that Haas used the American version, because he lives in the US. And I think he is still using this racquet with a Dunlop paint job.

That full bumper should guard the strings. And it gives the Prestige (and the Pro Tour 630) a special sound and touch. That's one of the "secrets of success" of these racquets. And the cap bumper can's be copied due to patent pending.

I looked at GUga's pictures in Gettyimage.

There was time the frame shape like PC 600, then some looks like P280, and then there was one in year 2000: He used a frame painted Ti Fire? It has bridge on the throat.
