Usually use a 17 guage gut string. About to try Bi-phase. Does anyone see a discernible difference in play between the two guages?

Ive used both and IMO there is no difference in feel....0.05mm is such a minute difference.

i think it really depends on your string pattern. if it's open then go with the 16 and if it's dense then go with the 17 because if definitely not a durable string.

i typically use 16 gauge strings because i break them fairly frequently. however have found that X-1 in a 17 gauge is a fairly durable string and of course it has great feel

Don't get the RED COLORED X-1. It frays way too fast. The outer coating is different than the natural colored and strips off easily exposing the inner fibers. My racket looks like it just killed a white haired animal and the fur is left on my strings. The natural colored has better durability.

If you have an open string pattern: 16 g
If you have a closed string pattern: 17 g

Use the 17 g, just stay away from 18g, it is weak. it frays too fast and goes dead.

17 is the way I go... love it in my hybrid as my cross. It frays, but not too quickly for me.

Ditto on the Red X1-Biphase. Its just didn't play the same and seem to lose tension far too quickly. Looked great though.

I have a closed string pattern and prefer the 17. It gives better feel than the 16 for my tastes.
