Not sure what to call them, but I've been mentally saying 2 quick short phrases or words associated with any given specific stroke during play, finding it very helpful. You guys do this?
What are some of your words or short phrases if so that you find most helpful. I've found that every shot has many parts to it and various complexities, and I can only manage 2 essential expressions I say in my mind during play, any more is too much and is more detrimental than beneficial.
With my forehand, the words I use are "turn; open", referring to turning the shoulders, and then before striking opening of the shoulders. This method has greatly helped me. I'm working on the other strokes and experimenting with what works.
