Great shoes. I've had about 3 of the black "low cut" pairs, that I started wearing in college. They are the most durable and comfortable shoes I've ever had. They go great with a comfortable pair of jeans and a t-shirt or some other casual shirt.

I find fewer occasions to wear them now, given that I'm now 41, but I still wear a pair from time to time. The soles are AMAZING, as you can literally go for a run in them. I don't know how they do it, but I know they have a patent on those soles! They are so "alternative" in my mind as far as style and helped usher in that "alternative"/"grunge" look back in the late 80's-early 90's.

Mine are very similar to these, but a little less "glossy":

I went to school in Austin, Texas (UT-Austin), and me and a few friends of mine would wear them. Then SUDDENLY, in about a year or two, I saw an explosion of Doc Martens, especially among high schoolers and those in college. That was about the time when this band changed music big-time (no more "big hair" glam rock bands!):

Thanks for reminding me of those shoes. I need to buy a pair for my daughter (now 10)!

My favorite boots. Their sandals are great to. Same thick sole. I've got a brown and black pair.

I'm so in love with my Doc Martens, the iconic black 8-eye boots and a pair of cherry red 14-eye boots. they are so versatile and can literally go with any outfits !

Thanks for the tip on those shoes above Lovecr717! I'll keep an eye out for some like those during the Holiday Season when I shop for some for new clothes & stuff for my daughter.

I once ran 6 miles in a pair of the 8-eyelet DM boots after missing the last train out of the city one New Year's Eve. They are amazingly comfortable. I don't know how they do it, either.

Wear my 1460s almost every day to work and they have held up beautifully even with the past 3 years of using them for snowblowing the driveway all winter. i usually get a decade out of a pair. They are still in good enough shape to wear with much suit!

Chris, that's quite an experience, thanks for sharing that. Man, that's not easy. I bet you had some major adrenaline going! I've had a similar experience while in college in Austin, as I missed my ride back to my place. So, instead of hailing a Taxi, I just ran/walked back home late at night..

Oxblood shoes. Black ones. Black buckle brothel creeper shoes. 16 eyelet oxbloods. Others... they all seemed to last forever. Skateboarding usually wasn't very good for them!

Went to Glastonbury music festival and the mud was so deep I killed a pair covered in mud for 3 days.

The only place you could get them was army surplus initially then later they turned up in normal fashion shoes stores. My first pair cost a lot (back then) at $50AUD.

I've been rockin Dr. Martens for about 15 years now (probably had about 10 pairs in all)... they are pretty much my everyday shoe. I've played basketball in my DMs before too :). Here's my current pair: My all-time favs are the brown wingtips which I can't find anywhere anymore :( Here's my current pair:

FedererForehand, that pair above looks awesome! I think I'll have to look for a pair like that (changing from just black). I like everything about that shoe. They would go great with so many pants/clothes!

Thats why I love 'em - they go great with Khaki's or jeans and are super comfortable. They sell them at Journey's, Macys & Famous Footwear - not to terribly difficult to find.

I never had the boots, but the lowcut shoe in brown lasted me from college until age 28. Then I souled out and went all corporate.

What kind of shoes do you like STB? Doc Martens do not translate to "white trash". In what Universe do you live?

Also, you might want to consider adjusting your User Name before throwing out terms like "white trash" so easily.
