Does any pro out there play without overgrip?

I don't think I have seen any playing with NO overgrip.

I know the following players were NOT using overgrips at one time or another: Calleri, Capriati, Davenport, Woodbridge, Ferreira, Henman, Kafelnikov, Myskina, Mauresmo (who uses a raised contour type grip), Petrova, Rubin, Saretta, Gambill, Sluiter, and Llodra.

My guess as to why so many players use overgrips is that they are easier to remove/replace on the court quickly, and also replacing a base grip can significantly alter the grip feel depending on how much overlap is used.

Calleri and Gasquet have both used Head calfskins without an OG.

I have Mauresmo's racket and currently she uses VS overgrip over a basic white grip.

That's why I said "at one time or another".;-)

A few years ago, she was using just a special contour replacement grip.

I prefer leather (as do many others) because you can feel the bevels much better with an overgrip

Yes. And also Hingis and Edberg. Gasquet and McEnroe, too. What else do these players have in common?

I love the feel of bare leather, but only when it isn't dripping with sweat. The only time I get to use that is in the winter.

Anyway, since the international circuit generally follows warm weather (or climate control on the indoor circuit) and there's sweating involved, I think most pros use a nice, fresh, thin overgrip over the leather.

I use a Karakal PU grip on my badminton racquet and find I don't need to add an overgrip on it. It feels amazing and luxurious and does not slip.
