No...Not his Dunlop/Prince Racket!!! The new one Prince is making for him...I am hoping Prince is making something nice to release to the public and for James Blakes use...But does anyone know what it will be?? (I am hoping a Hybrid Tour with 18x20 Pattern!!!)

possibly, but highly doubt it...I mean Blake probably isnt comfortable with the new prince then...but no new word on his racquets...but I did read some article that said Prince said Blake isnt used to the O-ports...probably on this forum but I will try to llok it up

Guillermo Coria also used a Prince racquet labeled Experimental during the Masters-cup in Houston in 2003 & 2004. Coria uses that Prince Graphite, whatever the latest edition is to that racquet. As far as Blake, who knows.

They could change it around for him according to what his feedback is.

    See ya on the courts,

Um the experimental line was referring to the nxg... Coria uses an o3 tour or a POG, of which im not sure because coria is garbage anyways. Does anyone kno when the Prince blake is coming out?

I think its called the Prince Hybrid Tour, 95 inch, 18x20 i'm pretty sure because that's what Blake uses if i read correctly.

Haha, no I swear I didnt know thats just what I was hoping for. Anyone have an idea on weight and balence and what about looks? what colors and such. I don't like the idea of hybriding on the 3 and 9 because to put lead tape on that is a *****.....

James is using a dunlop racquet that has been painted black. I handled his sticks in Indy. He had one strung a day at 68.

I don't think the retail version of the "Prince Blake" racket will have 18 mains. The O3 Tour MS has only 16, too while it also exists with 18 for some pros (German Simon Greul is one). Even the usual O3 Tour exists with 18x20 pattern. (I got two of them.) 18x20 is very unusual for Prince. So I don't think that they will issue a "Blake stick" with 18 mains. (Even I'm sure he will never use a racket with 16 mains.)

I think the will come up with a new technology, because Blake doesn't like the holes.

    Blake model deets

All blake frame..not sure if this will be the final paint job or not though.

Racquet had a egg shaped design with a dense string pattern..18x20.

    What i liked:
I liked the stiffness of the frame..especially toward the top. This made for excellent serving.

Groundies felt decent..more head weight would have been nice.

    What i didnt:
Had a real pingy feel to it..could have been the strings and tension and or due to the stiffness.
I would have liked a little more head weight to stabilize more.

it had some small O3 holes at 3 and 9 oclock that where white in color.

    Less power the 03 tours.

I spoke with the Prince rep today and he said that the contract between Prince and Blake had been torn up and he was suprised to see Blake still using a Prince bag. He said that they went thru many custom racquets and also said that Prince had wanted him to use a racquet with O Ports. Apparently, he was closest to using a racquet for the French.

And he volunteered that the racquet he was actually using is a 10 yr old Dunlop Revelation (Tour?).

That is completely false information. I have no idea where you heard or made this up from but no. Prince wants Blake on their team desperately and they have finally tweaked the racket to his liking in time for the US Open release.

    Blakes racquet

I saw blake practicing with a black racqeut that said prince in silver letters on the side in toronto. His coach was also hitting with that racquet. It didnt have any o-ports on it.

That's spot on, the Prince rep brought it to my friends tennis shop to show the owner, and he told me it looked like a nice stick, black with small holes at the 3/9 position, and I think about 98." - it should be out in a couple of weeks.

sounds about right. it may have a smaller head version too with the 18X20 string pattern. but thank you for confirming my quote because everyone has been thinking im making up things or something when i have been told by my prince rep.

i think i agree with you. the most successful prince frames after the POG were based on the POG - the POG longbody and the diablo. actually, forgot about the warrior - the best frame prince has put out since POG.

too bad the top player playing with the o3 is Coria - not exactly a ringing endorsement for the frame.

Hmm. Are you sure those specs are right? It's almost impossible to have a SW that low on a 12-oz. racquet with the balance point at 13.25".

Edit: never mind. I just ran it through my weight distribution program. It's easily possible. In fact, it's probably a nice feeling frame, since it's probably a lot closer to most pro racquets than stock racquets are.

Sorry, but my guess is that the weight and balance of the racquet they sell is still nothing like the weight and balance of what Blake will get.

The only reliable and reasonably current info we have on Blake's racquet is that it weighs about 13.4 oz and has a balance point of about 12.2". I don't know exactly what his swingweight is, but I must say that the racquets that I have leaded up to match Blake's specs have felt really nice for crushing forehands!

13.4? Wow that's about how much my leaded up 300g weighs. It's a beast to carry around but on serves it feels so smooth.

Guys when blake was with dunlop his stick was 320 unstrung (not including the small layer of lead) so i dont see how he can have beefed it up so much

I was about one foot away from his racket Friday night and I should have taken a picture. It says James Blake on it, and the edges are rounded more then the Dunlop style frames. So I'm not sure if it's from the old mold he was using before or not since I never saw that racket up close.

Was that before of after he took an extended illness/injury layoff and returned with a much heavier ball than before? I wonder if the difference between Blake's racquet before and after his layoff is kind of like the difference between Barry Bond's body before and after the steroid era?

Beats me why Prince would be bothered with all this fuss with Blake, they should concentrate on some up and coming players.

    #47
  48. That must be exactly right. Blake sent his frames to Balco to be injected with steroids, because Blake himself is not good enough. Another good analogy is between Blake and the Loch Ness Monster.
