Will spin be negatively affected when using a 16 gauge cross with a 17 or 18 gauge main? Will the poly main be able to bite as much with a thicker cross?

it should not matter much at all. it is prob a good idea if you need more durability in the crosses (are you using a multi or syn gut?). there is nothing wrong with having different gauges in the mains and crosses.

This is my first time with poly and I'm using a 1.30 nylon cross with a 1.22 poly main. I haven't hit with it yet. I got to thinking about spin potential after looking at the stringbed and noticing that the crosses sit up much higher than the mains. Thanks for the feedback.
