Does getting married help or hurt a man's career?

You might think getting married would lead to distractions and annoyances that would hurt a man's career.

On the other hand, it could lead to greater support and stability, which helps his career.

For Federer and Roddick, it seems to be the latter.

In general, how does getting married affect a man's career?

Def helps - more stability. You're not worried about a high-maintenance girlfriend or a possible breakup all the time. Besides Roger knows Mirka had no solid prospects, so she was never going to cheat on him. Whereas Maratsky with all those bimbos could never focus on tennis!

Marriage doesnt tell the whole story. If you marry a woman who cares more about her own career, selfish, high maintenance then the guy is doomed. A woman coming into life of top players has to have in mind that she's marrying his career also. Unless the guy cares more about the family than his profession, which he wouldnt be or stay top player anyways.
