Can he repeat 2009 except go one step further this time and capture glory?

He has a chance, but it's slim, especially with the top 4 so amazingly consistent. The draw will probably hurt him less there than at a US Open for instance, since a guy like Del potro, or Fish in an early round is much more doable for him. However, it's still most likely three of the big four. If he serves like his life depends and does anything else the way he did in 2009, he has a shot against Nadal or Djokovic on a grasscourt, but doubt he'll do it thrice. So a deep run? Yes. A win? Very unlikely.

    It's probable, but highly unlikely.

I'd say there's a chance, but it's awfully slight. He's got to have his 2 go-to shots on fire for 2 weeks (serve and forehand) even though his forehand hasn't exactly been a "go-to" shot as of late. It's also going to take a good (lucky?) draw. but it's possible, just look at Goran Ivanisevic back in '01.

Based on history (and the 2010 RG Final pre-match speculation) Soderling was Nadal's worst nightmare. He is the only man ever to beat Nadal at RG. More legit that Federer vs Roddick. Soderling has made 2 RG finals and beat Federer at RG too.

Berdych, no doubt a bunny. But Nadal has only had the pleasure of facing him in ONE Wimbledon final. Other than that, Nadal has had a raw deal of facing Federer in 3 Wimbledon finals and Djokovic last year.

If Roddick played like he did in 2009 at wimby, Nadal would likely have no chance against him.

Roddick has a chance because Novak has trouble with his big serves on grass. and if Andy can upset him, he could take the title.

Not a realistic chance! I don't know what happened to Roddick, but, I remember when his forehand was a rocket launcher. But, his stroke production, especially his forehand, changed somewhere around 2005 or so, and he just doesn't have the game to beat the top players at the big events anymore, IMO.

you have to suspend disbelief and pretend roddick only joined the tour because he was a beloved and unhypocritical hard working prodigy. misunderstood

only if it turns into an exhibition and his opponent in the final hands over his racquet to Rory Mcillroy for a set or two.

Unfortunately not, he is just so off the map, and his serve isn't enough to get it done alone, like say Ivanisevic's was.

I think the real question that should be asked is.

    Does Wimbledon have another Roddick?

    No.

This year I expect Federer or Murray to win Wimbledon.

I voted yes, purely because the word can was used in the question rather than the word will.

He could always hire a rifle and shoot at Wimbledon...that would be his best move...

Did anyone say 'no' yet? Because that is the answer. There is no way he can win 7 straight matches anymore - period. But he can probably knock off one or two contenders (if his serve is absolutely on fire), before losing in the QFs or possibly SFs.

If everyone significant player boycott the event ala 1973. Roddick may have an outsider chance.

My logical side says "absolutely not". But the American in me wants to say "maybe". It would involve a lot of luck, dedication, and, of course, belief in oneself. If Novak plays like he did in 2011 or Nadal in 2010, it's really asking a lot. But say they weren't 100 percent...

When was the last time he even made the quarters of a major? Forever ago. He's been losing to guys like Tipsarevic, Lu, and Gabashvili in slams. Not enough firepower to get it done against the top 4.

As much as I like Roddick, I don't think it'll happen. It looks like Brooklyn will have to bring home the bacon from now on. I'll always cheer for a fellow Austinite though.

Next great American IMO is Ryan Harrison for the men and Sloane Stevens/Christina McHale for the women.

Roddick reached the quarter finals of the 2011 US Open, and got hammered by Nadal.

Regarding Roddick's Wimbledon chances, I don't think it's going to happen. 2009 was a golden chance for him.

That's true. That weak quarterfinal performance made me remember him as having lost in the 4th round instead I guess.

I say yes. I've seen this sort of scenario play out before.

    Federer's grass days are done.
Djokovic is beatable on grass...especially on grass.
Nadal...we'll see where he is tennis-wise in a couple years.

Probably won't be this year, but I think Roddick has one last magical Wimbledon run in him when everyone has written him off.
