The French Bulldog. I used to have one for more than 11 years & I could say it is a perfect breed...

Goldies or Labs. They have great temperaments and are a lot of fun. :)

    I like Newfoundlands.

All thos ones Ive been around were great. They remind me of bigger labs.

2nd would be a chespeake bay retriever. Watching them guys recover ducks in the open water is somehting to behold.

I get to vote twice, once each for my chocolate/white Cocker Spaniel boys. They are the sweetest, funny little companions ever! I am posting as one licks my leg and the other is circling around in search of his racquetball...a tool for attention whenever I pick up a book or the iPhone.

    Thats awesome man.

I had a friend growing that had a CBR. dog got hit by a car crossing the street to bum some fried chicken. Next time it would stop on the shoulder and check traffic before crossing.

We had this other guy that did the rescue excersies with his goldens. He would tell the dog to sit while he walked 200 yards away and placed a dummy on a corn filed. then come back. Dogs woud run out in the field 200 yards away, and look back. The guy would blow his whistle and point his arm ina direction and the dog would walk in that direction until he stopped blowing his whistle. Then look back for more direction until the guy placed him close enough to the dummy. Thats what i remeber anyway I was like 12 at the time watching the guy. It had to be similar to that. pretty incredible

    It was pretty amazing

I like Mastiffs (English, American, Bull). Intimidating and protective of their families but gentle and loving with children. My puppy James showed amazing instincts early. He was very watchful and loving with my youngest son who is Autistic and was very protective of him. My son can be a flight risk and James always stayed close to him.

When my black lab was still with us, she did. Total bed hog, and a great 90 lb. lap dog, as well...she's been gone 5 years, now. Wife and I are finally ready to get another dog.

My Lab/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix in my avatar pic sleeps with me every night. Thank god I have a queen sized bed as his 120lbs takes up about 75% of the bed when stretched out.

We have 2 Scottie's (white/wheaten color) and every night they wait u til we crash and jump on our bed and by morning wedged between the wife and I.

Awesome dogs but true terriers..........think they run the world and give you that "you want me to do what" look all the time.

I used to sleep with my German shephard mix when I was child. I will
get my dog after I purchase a house soon. Or maybe I will have children first before a dog. I have to wait and see how it goes

My favorite breed is Siberian Husky. My wife's favorite is Cocker Spaniel. So, we went out and got one of each. :) They're both fantastic dogs!

Awesome dog. Im so close to getting one. My parents are livnig with me at the moment and along came two of moms dogs. One was a shepard mix, he passed about 2 motnhs ago. The other is a pitbull mix who is 17 years old now. I dont want to introduce another dog while henessey is still in the house. But as soon as mom and dad finsih the house dads fixing up Im getting a newf. I might get a CBR as well so they each have a freind to go swimming with. I dont why I like dogs swimming so much but ever since I was a little guy I also wanted a dog I could take swimming.

I assume he is great with the little guy. Probably dont let no one get close. If I ever have kids they will grow up togehter with a puppy. Again its me doing what i always wanted as a kid. But so what dogs are awesome.

I have three dogs, and people tell me I shouldn't have a favorite, but I do. My baby Beagle girl is the sweetest, most amazing dog I have ever come across. So Beagles get my vote. They are such a docile, good natured breed, in fact, a lot of companies conduct some pretty horrific tests on them.

Great Danes are my favorite breed.

They are reasonably intelligent, loyal, and usually are good around children. They are somewhat goofy but can also be protective and threatening when needed. The only downside is that like a lot of the large breeds, they don't tend to live very long.

Just about any dog gets my vote but in the end I have to say you almost can't go wrong with a Lab. I'm partials to yellows. They are big but if raised right you just don't have to worry about them with family, friends or pretty much anyone including other dogs. Fortunately we don't need a watch dog so just want an easy going fun worry-free companion.

Smart, keen noses, playful and active but can basically be big lap dogs at the end of the day and of course...they retrieve! They make great hide-and-go-seek buds for the kids too. Our previous did get in the habit of sleeping in the bed, but I put the kibash on this one doing the same. My sleep is more important and he just took up too much room! He sleeps with my daughter...not as much of a space issue. The only bad thing I can think of is it hurts too much when they pass...

Yeah, Otis is awesome with the kids, a big teddy bear, and he is practically a life guard in the water. I'm 220 lb and he easily tows me in to the shore. We got him here:
