Yeah, I spoke about this in his thread about his tourney this week. He could play Scoville Jenkins in Round 2 if they both advance, that match would be an exciting affair!

I'll be in Santa Cruz Thursday. If he is still in it maybe I'll stop by and have a look.

Please give us a mini-report, if you are able to catch him in action.

Agenor is over 40 and is still a stud. I wouldn't be surprised if he wins the whole thing.
I saw him just toying around with David Martin and Michael Shabaz earlier this year at a futures event. He coaches Lesley Joseph.
Fitness might be a problem for him, but hitting the ball will not.

You have to feel sorry for Donald. He probably has more people rooting against him than any 16 year old in history.
On second thought Jen Capriati had a lot of people against her at that age too. Sure he's not gonna be a great player, but not sure that we should savor his failure.

How do you know if he is not going to be a great player, he has shown great promise, why not? I mean you don't expect him to be beating the ATP players at the age of sixteen, not even Federer could do that.

Robert Kendrick vs. James Pade, I'd like to see that one, a couple of players that dominated NorCal juniors a while ago, different era though.

Wow- I am surprised that Jenkins lost to a low ranked Japanese Player. I think Young actually has a pretty good chance to go deep in this tourney.

I saw Kuznetsova take out Brendan Evans earlier this year and he looked 100% to me. He moves like a gazelle around the court.

    woah!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just looked at the doubles draw (next to the singles on jman's link)
Noticed that Jordan Keplar and Kris Klay played the no. 2 seeds and lost 1 & 1
who are these guys? both are like open 16's players from Santa Cruz...
Jordan is 14 (and the club directors son)
I am excedingly surprised that two guys who can't be that amazing (got in to the main draw first of all - make your own deductions - but also were able to get 2 games off a pro team ranked 323 in the world...
    any thoughts?

thoughts..how about $$$, i'm sure that pro team got a few extra for not blowing out the directors son 0 0.

I played at that Aptos Club last year while I was living in Santa Cruz for a few months. I'm a solid 5.0 and I beat both Kris and Jordan easily, I think each may have gotten a game. It was about 9 months ago, but they couldn;t have gotten that much better. They must have served a decent game and the pro team was going easy. I can't hang with a pro, so I know they can't. They didn;t qualify either, Jordans dad put them in the draw. Cool kids though, especially Kris

wow jordan kepler and kris klay hahahahahahahahah
ya, they play norcal tournies. kris klay lost first round norcal 16s sectionals and i think jordan kepler isnt really serious about tennis anymore, more into surfing. i played him about a year ago and the match lasted about 50 minutes. im sorry, but that kid is horrible. its nice to see 2 of my coaches playing though, brandon coupe and pablo de almeida. thats so solid. brandon actually coaches gimelstob and we se him around our club.

Like Hotcarl said the pro team was just fooling around a bit and taking it a bit easy more relaxed.

Oh well Young loses in the second round to an unseeded Japanese player.

    Kuznetsov is into the semis.

    Wasn't Sampras a baseliner at Donald's age?

Seems incredibly foolish to say he isn't going to be a good player. Look at him, he's a child. Hype gets into your head when you're that young. Just forget about him until he does something.

    Anyone seen Kuznetsov play lately?
He had that serious accident then went back to futures for most of the last year. Then he injured his ankle this spring, so i was kind of discouraged. When I saw him play as a 15 year old at Kalamazoo, he was seriously promising, but lots of people show potential at that stage. Great to see that he must be close to recovered from his various injuries.

Really now? Is he really developing a bigger/big serve? Maybe he'll finally win an ATP match soon.

Well the guy is a local beat reporter I bet. He may not really know that much about tennis. Last time I saw Young his serve was weak compared to his ATP competition.
