If you're unfamiliar with the new Doubles "Enhancement", go read this article:

    http://www.atptennis.com/en/newsandscores/news/2005/doubles_changes.asp

What do you guys think of this? Personally, I think it is terrible. Does anyone know who to email to voice a complaint about this? I see this as the beginning of the death of professional doubles tennis. I guess if doubles doesn't attract fan attention I guess it's only the natural outcome, but I hope these changes see a strong enough resistance to keep them from going into effect.

The beginning? Doubles flatlined years ago.
    Passed on.
    No more.
    Ceased to be.
Expired and gone to meet it's maker.
    A stiff.
    Bereft of life.
    Rests in peace.
If you hadn't nailed it to the court it'd be pushing up the daisies.
Its metabolic processes are now history.
    Its off the courts.
    Kicked the bucket.
Shuffled off its mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile!!

    DOUBLES IS AN EX-COMPETITION!!

(Apologies to the good folks in the Monty Python comedy troupe. Any similarities between their Dead Parrot sketch and this commentary on the state of professional doubles in tennis are purely coincidental, and probably not worth fretting over.)

Sure, sounds like a great idea: remove the strategy, remove the drama, get the players off the court relatively quickly. Why don't they just dress the players as rock stars, have them parade around the court for a few minutes, and then forget about playing altogether. Then the "fans" can get back to their cell phones and pdas. Whatever.

    Ouch. That is Grim, Jack.

I no longer wonder how Grimjack got his screen name.
Thanks for the laugh, though. Everybody loves a little Monty Python.

Hey, isn't this up for review in September? Something's got to be done. There are at least two or three threads worth of outrage on the TW boards alone. Paging Mark Miles.
