Sorry to be so negative but I've just got a feeling Murray's going to get a mauling tomorrow.
Things have just swung in Djokovic's favour who has an extra day's rest and Murray coming off a hard 5 setter. And you need everything in your favour to have a chance against Djokovic who's looking like an absolute monster sends shivers down my spine.
He's like the Mike Tyson of tennis. Opponents beaten before they go on.
Just hope that Murray can make it respectable.
And if he somehow pulls off the win I expect various bits of players lying around for it.

Have some faith in the Don of Dunblane, he's in such a good shape physically, he'll do fine.

    Physically Murray will be OK.

As an objective poster who doesn't care about both Murray and Djokovic -it's looking like a 50/50 match-up to me. I wouldn't even put Djokovic as the slight favorite despite him winning the last 2 AO's, it just doesn't matter as Murray doesn't care about it. As sure as hell Djokovic won't maul Murray and not even close.

Hopefully Djokovic will be in for a bit of a shock when he realizes he isn't beating up on Ferrer.

Pretty much sums up how I feel.

It might sound silly, but I was more worried about Murray losing to Roger than I am to Nole. Beating Roger in a slam was a journey into the unknown - beating Nole in a slam isn't anymore.

Where was all this wailing when the shoe was on the other foot between the two, rest-wise, at the US Open?

I'm dreading it too. I am dreading another King Kong impersonation from Lance after he wins. I wonder if this time he will just go streaking since he can't seem to keep his clothes on. They better hand out some barf bags before the match begins in preparation. Lol.

If Murray plays like what he did in the SF, he has a fair chance to win.

I think it is 50-50. If 2011 Novak shows up, it is difficult, but if it is anything like 2012 AO or later, then i favor Murray.

    No - he believes it.

Fedex is never very optimistic about Murray's chances and worries about his physical frailties.

    You don't like Novak's celebrations?

    I, for one, am shocked.

Not believing in his chosen player? Sounds more like a bandwagonner than a true fan.

I'm a bigger fan of older music actually, than I am of today's garbage even though I'm not that old. Song hasn't made a resurgence in my mind because I never let it get too far away anyway. Listen to it quite a bit. Just put the iTunes on shuffle.

No not anymore. It's just you need the advantages in your favour when playing Djokovic otherwise it's going to be super tough.

I agree it's best to have them - but I still think he can do well. Not long now my friend - we'll soon see.

Believe me, anyone who has followed Murray since 2004 and all the heartbreak that entails is not bandwagonesque.
    Far more a masochist.

I know what you're saying. It's like you're not used to him winning to the extent he is these days, so you dread a loss more than look forward to the euphoria you'll feel if he wins. Pessimism in simple terms. If Murray keeps winning, your attitude will change.

1- the extra day of rest doesn't favor Djoko imo. It's better to keep the same pace throughout the tournament and not have one's rhythm broken. 1 day of rest between matches is the ideal tempo.
2- none of their previous encounters point to a one-sided scenario. Quite the opposite. Why would the pattern change all of a sudden?

You're just scared for Murrray. I don't think HE will be.

I agree. This could be real ugly for Murray.

I am predicting a scoreline something like

    6-3 6-4 6-2 to Djokovic.

Not the best comparison, Novak is a notorious slow starter and seems to relish playing epic, long, drawn-out battles while Tyson was all about blitzing opponents by overwhelming them early with his power and speed and didn't fare that well in longer fights.

Hmm. Never thought about it that way. You could have a point.
I also feel frustration that he's finally achieving the potential anyone that's followed Murray, knows he has yet I still don't have the pleasure of looking forward with confidence due to the monster that is Djokovic And Murray flunking those two semi sets.
Must have been nice being a Federer fan years ago having the luxury of sitting back in your armchair, relaxed, cigar in hand knowing your man was going to slay anyone in front of him instead of constantly on the edge of your seat cursing Murray for torturing you for a decade never knowing what was going to happen next.
I just want a little piece of the other for a change.
Murray always has to make things difficult.

There are no bigger masochists than us long suffering Nadal fans. Well, maybe you long suffering Murray fans know how we feel, but things are looking up for Andy right now, so you have a whole lot more to cheer for than we do.

What self-respecting Scot would drink "whiskey" before a major final? Connery will be having words with Muzza if he's eyeing up anything but a glass of authentic Scotch this morning/afternoon.

OP is suffering from a classic case of over-anxiety, conjuring up worst case scenarios in order to protect themselves from the anguish of disappointment. The Scot's run-up to the final has been a dream scenario -a bare minimum of exertion for the most part, topped off with just the right quota of adversity required for honing one's game and physical/mental stamina. Murray would be embarrassed to point to any physical shortcomings on Sunday, given the Federer match wasn't that arduous and his preceding matches weren't even as taxing as the average Lendl practice session.

If the Serb does run away with the match in a dominant fashion, it won't be because Murray was drained from the semi.

Murray had the tougher SF. Djokovic had it easy. Ferrer didn't even show up. There is no way Murray will outlast Djoker tomorrow.

    Who cares.

He got his gold and more importantly his major.

    Zero pressure.

I think C-vak takes it in straights, but there is nothing Novak can do to Murray that Roger has not already done to him.

And he has Kim to go home to. While I am picking it in straights, something tells me Ivan knows something about Novak that can be exploited.

I usually play down Murray's chances and see the bad points going into big matches. I'm starting to get past that these days, against Federer I was very confident, i'm confident for tomorrow too.

I don't think it will be a "mauling", I can see it going similar to the US Open final, or their semi final from last year. Either can win, fingers crossed he does it.

Physically Murray will be O.K. The problem will be Novaks game and the way he is currently playing.
