Dunlop Max Impact racquets were from the late 1980s, so yeah they're pretty old.

I don't remember the Pro, but my first "real" racquet was the plus. It was widest at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions, was a cool black and white marbled look, and it had three little rubber half-spheres on each side to deaden shock. It was pretty stiff. I don't remember the specs, just walking down memory lane with you.

I still play with a max impact mid. Great racquet IMHO.
I don't know what the specs are versus the pro.

If my specs will help I'll be glad to measure/weight it.
Its been a while since I spec'd it and I can't remember what it weighed exactly.
I do know its headlight, and heavy!

Is the Impact Mid the black one with a little bit of green trim?

I think I used that racquet in 1988 or '89. It was a great frame.

I bought mine at a yard sale if I remember correct.
I currently have the strings cut, but here's a pic.

Nice feeling racquet. Seems to be injected with some sort of rubber. You can see the injection points on the outside of the neck.

Dark metallic purple, fading to metallic silver, then back to purple at the neck with teal accents.

If I recall there were three racquets in the Dunlop Max Impact line - Impact Pro, Impact Mid and Impact Plus.

They were Dunlop's first move into widebodies, which became all the rage about 1988 or so thanks to the Wilson Profile.

    Dunlop Max Impact Pro...

    The previous poster is correct...

There were three racquets in the Max Impact line-up.

    1) Max Impact Mid (gray with green graphics; no Impact Modulator nubs)
    2) Max Impact Pro (gray with silver and red graphics; 1 Impact Modulator nub on each side of the throat)
    3) Max Impact Plus (gray and white with silver and red graphics; 3 Impact Modulators nubs on each side of the throat)

I believe the construction of all three racquests are 100% graphite, aside from the vibration control materials incorporated into the Pro and Plus.

The racquets do have their widest points at the 3 and 9-o-clock positions.

After playing with all three models, I decided to go with the Pro. The Pro was my first widebody racquet that I purchased back in 1989. I still have it and play with it!

During 1990 - 1991, Dunlop had some quality control issues with this racquet. I had one frame that warped after new strings were installed. The warping did not occur until I played for about a week. The tension was the same as my other Pro racquet, so I knew that it could not have been over tightened. I sent it to Dunlop and they gave me a new racquet.

The new frame had some sublte differences when compared to my original frame. The new frame was heavier and thicker

I ended up giving the new frame to a friend of mine and switched to a Wilson racquet until a couple of years ago.

I stumbled across a brand new Max Impact Pro at a local dealer about a year ago. I could not believe my eyes when I saw it on the rack. I compared it to my old frame and it had the same dimensions. Needless to say, I bought it and I now play with the Pro racquets again!:p

That appears to be a "newer" version of the Max Impact Mid. The one that I play tested back in 1989 did not have the Impact Modulator on the throat.

Do you still have the Dunlop MAX Impact racquets? If you do, are you willing to trade or sell them?
