My 12 year old son is, quite literally, burning through shoes. He used to wear "junior" shoes with no guarantee as his feet were too small for adult shoes with a guarantee. 6 weeks ago, we replaced his Babolat Propulse 4 with the adult version and he is a week or so away from needing replacement. Is there anything more durable? He has medium wide feet. He plays everyday for 1.5-2 hours on hot hardcourts in Phoenix, Az.

The Adidas Barricade, 7 or 8, is certainly the most durable and should offer twice the time of a Propulse 4. Like the Propulse 4, they come with a 6 month warranty so you get a second pair built into the price. It makes them tremendous value, especially when buying on sale.

One other heavy duty option is a the Wilson Rush Pro. I put holes in CourtBallistecs and Gel Resolutions in around 25 hours but the Rush Pros lasted me almost 40 hours which isn't too far behind the Barricade (50hrs).

I do hope he isn't literally burning the shoes though, as no warranty will cover that.:)

After trying cheaper New Balance and similar that my two boys just chewed through I stick with Barricades now. Even my youngest (7) managed to wear through the toes of some NBs in a month but a pair of B6s I picked up for $40 have lasted almost a year.

As NJ1 says just keep an eye out for specials and you can get then for a decent price.

Thanks for the heads up on the B7/B8. Personally, I liked the Wilson Rush Pro, but he is "shoe fickle" and thought they looked too "orthotic." We will definitely keep these in mind when we return to the shoe store, that is if he outgrows the Propulse 4s before they wear through.
