Ferrer is like Dibbs or Ferreira, just a couple more semis at slams but that is all

More like Kodes I think. Not so lucky though. It wouldn't be hard for him to win an event were only 20% of the top players are present. How wait, he beat a better field than that each month.

Both have different balls, one was born to win and the other is an honest trier.a modern Solomon just that the equipment makes him look better,,,,

Ferrer beat a thougher field to win Auckland than Kodes to win the Mickey Mouse Wimby.

Each decade has had its iconic moonballer
    Solomon in 70
    Carlsson in 80
    Chang in 90
    Hewitt in 2000
    And now Ferrer

Exactly......only similar issue is that neither had a "real" weapon.......main reason maybe why they have not one a big one.

Sorry but the AO in 77 was a joke (as it was from mid 70s until the early 80s......no better than a top 500 event today. When you have guys like Vilas, Alexander and John Lloyd making GS grass finals you are not major league.

The real merit of Ferrer is that he is the journeymen that has gotten most far. That, I´ll give him full credit.

The immediately previous generation's Ferrer was probably Davydenko.

    Their profiles are pretty similar.

    High Rank

    Davy: 3
    Ferrer: 4

    Titles

    Davy: 21 (including 3 Masters (3 finals))
    Ferrer: 20 (including 1 Masters (4 finals))

    Significant Slam Results

    Davy: 4 SF, 6 QF
    Ferrer: 5 SF, 5 QF

    Other

    Davy: YEC title!
    Ferrer: Davis Cup titles!

Basically, they both did everything you could ask of a pro except win a Slam.
