I have a Eagnas starting clamp and use it primarily to pull knots.. When I grab the string at the bottom of the clamp and pull it slides out under pressure... Am I grabbing with the wrong part (i.e. should I use the tip) or is this a crappy clamp

when I use a starting clamp in this way, I put the top of the clamp in my hand and pass the string through my two center fingers (ring and middle.) If you try to pull the knot tight while holding the bottom of the clamp it will open the jaws and the string will slip through.
